If you’re planning a trip to Universal Orlando (and we know a lot of folks are with Epic Universe opening in a few months), you might need some details on where to eat and where to NOT eat in the parks.

So let’s talk about Universal Islands of Adventure. Now there are tons of spots to dine, but there are three places that we tend to avoid (and we’re not the only ones because the Yelp reviews are brutal). So let’s get into it.
Blondie’s
Now Blondie’s gets a decent three stars on Yelp, but we’ve been there, and we really think that’s being generous. However, there were some Yelp reviews that hit the nail on the head about this dining spot that offers deli sandwiches. One Yelp reviewer called it “a big disappointment in quality, taste, cleanliness, and service.”

Another Yelp reviewer said, “Soggy sandwiches, I would summarize the restaurant in 3 words: Bad, Bad, and NO!” Ouch. There are also a lot of reviews talking about the service being bad, too. So we cannot recommend this one.

Comic Strip Cafe
You’ll find Comic Strip Cafe near Blondie’s, in Toon Lagoon. It’s also a place we recommend skipping. This spot offers burgers, salads, and theme park fare, and it’s not very good. Yelp only rates it at 2 stars with reviews calling the food “disgusting,” “dry and bland,” and “a wretched disgrace.”

One Yelp reviewer said that it was home to “the driest chicken sandwich I’ve ever had.” Another called it “the worst experience out of the park.”
Cafe 4
You might think a Marvel-themed restaurant would offer Marvel-lous food, but you’d be wrong. This is a pizza and salad joint where you want to avoid getting pizza or salad. However, it is a character dining experience, so if you want to meet Marvel characters pre-MCU, here’s your chance. An AllEars review calls it “decent,” but Yelp isn’t quite as kind. One reviewer called it the “worst restaurant ever.”Â

Another Yelp reviewer recommends to “Eat anywhere else.” Someone even compared it to school lunch food (and we’re guessing it’s not that good square pizza kind of school lunch either).
So what if you ARE looking for good food in Islands of Adventure? Well, Harry Potter fans are sure to find something tasty Three Broomsticks. We also like Mythos Restaurant, which offers up a menu featuring a mix of Mediterranean, Asian and American fare. Confisco Grille is also pretty good, especially if you’re in the mood for BBQ.
