Over the last several years, Disney has steadily released live action adaptations of the company’s animated classics. While some of these have fared better – – both critically and commercially – – than others, the upcoming Lilo & Stitch is highly anticipated!

After releasing several teasers and clips mainly focused on Experiment-626 himself, including a memorable Super Bowl spot, Disney has finally dropped a trailer for the film.

Disney released the full-length trailer for the film in mid-March 2025, just about two months before the film is scheduled for release on May 23rd.
The clip will look familiar to fans of the 2002 film, as some of it consists of near shot-for-shot reproductions of sequences from the original. However, the clip also displays some of the film’s unique elements including new CGI interpretations of characters like Jumba, Pleakly, and the Grand Councilwoman. Suffice to say, these nostalgic moments hit those of us of a certain age right in the feels.
In addition to these callbacks and returning characters, the trailer also highlights actress Maia Kealoha’s take on the titular Lilo, highlighting her relationships with both Stitch and her sister Nani, played by Sydney Elizebeth Agudong.

The film, directed by Dean Fleischer Camp, stars Kealoha, Agudong, Zach Galifianakis, Billy Magnussen, Hannah Waddingham, and Courtney B. Vance. Furthermore, franchise veterans Tia Carrere, Amy Hill, and Jason Scott Lee return in new roles. Stitch himself is once again voiced by creator Chris Sanders, who co-wrote and co-directed the original film along with Dean DeBlois.

Disney’s live-action adaptation of Lilo & Stitch is scheduled to debut in theaters on May 23rd. Stay tuned to AllEars for more on the film as its release date nears.
