We know there’s so much going on with Epic Universe at Universal Orlando that the Universal Park in Texas might be flying under the radar, but we just found out something pretty cool about it.

Universal Kids Resort just filed a trademark for one of the new rides!
It looks like a Jurassic World: Cretaceous Coaster is coming to Texas!

The trademark application is still being processed, but this is an exciting peek into what’s to come!

Right now, we’re assuming this is going to Texas because one of the areas coming to the Kids Resort is Jurassic World, where guests can join thrilling adventures “exclusively created for young explorers.” Sounds like this will be a lot tamer than our beloved Jurassic World VelociCoaster in Orlando!

Kids’ (and adults’) favorites will be there, including:
- Shrek: Where you can “enjoy ogre-sized fun as you stomp, ride, laugh, and play in Shrek’s swamp-themed playground” built by Shrek himself
- SpongeBob SquarePants: Guests will be able to visit Bikini Bottom
- Minions: It sounds like we’re going to get wet! In a fight between Purple and Yellow Minions, “it leads to a wave of unpredictable, water-soaked fun.”
- Jurassic World: Kids can come face to face and learn more about Jurassic World dinosaurs.
- Trolls: Universal says this will be the “most colorful, most joy-filled, and, of course, most glittery music festival of all time!”
- Puss in Boots: It looks like this will include sideshow games, rides, and festival food.
- Gabby’s Dollhouse: This will take place in the central hub, where there will be “interactive play areas and shady lawns for rest and recharge, plus an immersive retail experience where guests can meet characters.”

Including all that, there will also be a 300-room resort on the property! It will be in Frisco, Texas, in Dallas. The park is planned to be 1/2 of the size of the parks in Orlando and is meant to be a 1-2 day trip.

We are so excited to have a Universal Resort in Texas, especially if it means new rides, shows, and characters. The resort is set to open sometime in 2026, after Epic Universe opens on May 22nd, 2025.
We’ll be looking for more details and information about the new resort, but in the meantime, make sure you’re following AllEars to stay up to date on everything we learn.
