NEW Permit Filed for Disney’s Animal Kingdom CHANGES

A new permit indicates that Disney World is moving fast on one of its upcoming projects.

At 2023’s Destination D23 event, Disney confirmed that a new Zootopia show was being developed for the Tree of Life’s theater at Animal Kingdom as a replacement for the opening day attraction It’s Tough to Be a Bug. And now, we have an update.

In early February, Disney confirmed that It’s Tough to Be a Bug would be closing on March 18th to make way for the new attraction, Zootopia: Better Zoogether!

While that closure is still a couple of weeks away, a new permit filed by Disney indicates that work on the new attraction is going to begin as soon as possible. The permit, filed on March 3rd on behalf of Walt Disney Imagineering, gives contractor Icarus Exhibits, Inc. (a company that often works with Disney) the go-ahead to “Install Set Elements.”

Presumably, this indicates that work can begin on the attraction replacement as soon as It’s Tough to Be a Bug runs its final showing.

According to Disney, the new show will allow guests to “join Judy Hopps, Nick Wilde and more for a new wild adventure” that will take them on an “adventure through different biomes seen in the film.” The show is scheduled to open his year.
