Change seems to be the middle name lately for Disney’s Animal Kingdom — so what’s one more to add to the mix? While we’re still getting over the beginning of the latest construction to overhaul and re-theme DinoLand U.S.A., we’ve spotted something new that’s cause for celebration! But, we’ve got to warn you, this one might be hard to spot unless you’re looking for him at just the right times of the day.

One of the best things about visiting Disney’s Animal Kingdom is how alive the park truly is and makes you feel in turn. Taking a step inside will transport you to so many different lands featuring fantastic scenes and characters and lots of lush greenery, and it’s the one Disney World park where you’ll find the most variety of wildlife you can come face to face with.

Since we’re talking about wildlife (and by extension, its conservation efforts Disney has a hand in at the park), it stands to reason that after a few years, new faces might start popping up. We’ve seen a boom recently in baby animals being born to parents around the park, and now there’s one more new face that people are flocking to see!

If you’ve been following the Tiger Tuesdays since Bakso’s birth you’ve followed snippets of his progress towards being welcomed out into the Tiger encounter along the Maharajah Jungle Trek in Asia. This nature-inspired walk takes you on a journey to discovering animals of all kinds of sizes, shapes, wingspans, and more. It’s also where you’ll find the tigers that call the park home.

The jungle trek is hidden in Animal Kingdom

Although Bakso was born in September 2024 to his mother, Sohni, he’s been tucked away from the spotlight until he was ready to make his debut appearance out in the park. We’ve had lots of fun watching him learn to explore, play, and grow seemingly right before our eyes and now we’ve had a chance to visit the Sumatran tiger cub in person. Bakso joined the rest of the tigers along the trek on January 29th and it seems like he’s settling into his new digs just fine!

Keep in mind that Bakso is a big cat, and that means he’s probably going to spend a lot of his time during the middle of the day napping. The Cast Member working within the trek explained that since this experience is set up to highlight the wildlife that resides within it, they’re totally fine with letting them do what they naturally would do and do their best not to interrupt their natural patterns. He’ll likely get up to move around from time to time, but when we visited, he was very hard to spot as he lay basking in the warm sun up against a pile of bricks.

Sleepy kitty. Do you spot him?

Nevertheless, he’s still an adorable addition! If you’re looking to catch Bakso on your next visit you’ll want to visit him first thing in the morning while he’s prone to being the most active, otherwise, you might get a few sleepy kitty pictures (which are equally just as adorable).
