Alright, Disney fam, as you know, the Magic Kingdom is gearing up for a major transformation!

And while we’re getting so stoked about all the new attractions, dining, and shopping options that are coming, there’s one big elephant (or should we say “car”?) in the room that no one seems to be addressing – the impact the new Cars-themed area might have on some of our favorite classic attractions. Specifically, let’s talk about the Haunted Mansion.
First off, let’s give a quick reminder as to where the new Cars area is going. The proposed location is right in Frontierland, nestled next to Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and Tiana’s Bayou Adventure.

That all sounds fine, right? But here’s the twist: this spot also butts right up against Liberty Square, home of the Haunted Mansion, and that’s where things start to get a little dicey.

One of the best things about the Haunted Mansion is its eerie, otherworldly vibe. The exterior of the mansion is iconic – dark, mysterious, and a little unsettling in the best way.

But now, there’s a real possibility that this vibe could be disrupted. Why is that? Well, if you’re going to be speeding around in one of the two Cars attractions, kicking up dust and revving engines, that’s going to be quite hard not to notice.

And let’s be honest, nothing kills a spooky ghost story quite like watching Lightning McQueen zoom by in the background.
What Is It About the Ambiance?
We all know that Disney is known for its incredible theming and attention to detail, so it’s fair to assume that they’re going to try to keep the Haunted Mansion’s ambiance intact. That being said, there’s nothing wrong with us feeling a bit of worry.

Like we said, the Haunted Mansion has this specific and immersive feel. When you’re standing outside the mansion, surrounded by the graveyard and the sound of ghostly wails, you feel completely transported.

Now imagine that while you’re soaking in all that spooky goodness, you hear the sound of roaring engines from the new Cars rides. Even worse, imagine you’re looking at the mansion and catch sight of the new Cars area in the background.

Suddenly, the whole ghostly illusion falls apart. It’s like when someone spoils a movie twist – you just can’t unsee it.
The Role of All That Greenery
To Disney’s credit, the concept art does include a lot of greenery. Theoretically, this could act as a buffer between the Haunted Mansion and the Cars area, helping to separate the two and maintain their individual vibes. Trees and other foliage could block sightlines and help muffle some of the noise, so fingers crossed that Disney is already on top of this.

That said, it’s a delicate balance. If the greenery isn’t dense enough or isn’t maintained properly, it might not be enough to preserve the Haunted Mansion’s spooky aesthetic. And let’s not forget, construction on the new area is going to be a whole other beast. All the construction noise, cranes, and other visible equipment are bound to have at least a temporary, but noticeable, affect on the ambiance of Liberty Square.

But, if anyone can make it work, it’s Disney. So here’s hoping that they’ve already taken the necessary steps to make sure we don’t lose Haunted Mansion’s spooky vibes.

I thought this was ridiculous idea, to place a cars land themed area. this will ruin the whole ambiance of the Liberty square area, along with the Haunted Mansion area. They are screwing up Walt’s park. I would put cars land in Hollywood Studios, that is for movies. The Villans land sounds very cool and would fit in better at Magic Kingdom. Really a 5th gate would be best instead of cramming a bunch of half assed attractions in already crowded parks.
There is NOTHING positive about locating CarsLand in Frontierland. The beautiful, peaceful aesthetic in and around the Rivers of America will be destroyed. And it’s a bit of a stretch to claim CarsLand fits in with the Frontierland vibe due to its spirit of adventure. No, no, no! The Frontier had horses, mules, donkeys, wagons and stagecoaches….plus riverboats and rafts…..NOT cars! Whoever planned this location should go back to the drawing board and put it someplace else. PLEASE!
