One of our favorite Disney World hotels is about to CHANGE. If you haven’t stayed at the Walt Disney World Swan & Dolphin Resort yet, you’re missing out. From the location (just steps from EPCOT and Disney’s Hollywood Studios) to the dining, this resort is a real hidden gem.

So, why are we talking about this lovely resort on this fine afternoon? Well, we have some BIG news about the Walt Disney World Swan & Dolphin Resort — it is expanding!
The Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resort is taking on a big project — an addition of 120,000 square feet of event space! Crews have broken ground, which means construction is officially underway. And look — Mickey stopped by during the groundbreaking ceremony.

This project marks the first major expansion of the Walt Disney World Dolphin’s meeting space in over a decade! The addition will bring a new two-story annex to the hotel’s existing convention space. As you can see from the concept art, the design is sleek and modern and will draw inspiration from the property’s original Michael Graves design.

Now, let’s talk about this new expansion. The additions will create a total of 469,000 square feet of meeting space between the three resort buildings: the Swan, Dolphin, and Swan Reserve. Once this is complete, the resort will be one of the largest convention properties on the East Coast. The new convention space is expected to be completed in 2026.

This expansion is just PART of the project, though! The Swan and Dolphin is dedicating $275 million towards meeting space upgrades and updated guest rooms in the Swan. Here’s a preview of the new rooms!

Oh, and while we’re on the subject, this feels like a great time to point out a few more benefits of staying at this resort. Quincy, our resident hotel room expert, has a lot of GREAT things to say about the beds at this resort.
I’ve Slept in Every Hotel Bed in Disney World and I NEED You to Know These 4 Things
The rooms here use the Westin Heavenly Bed — featuring a pillow-top mattress, a white goose-down comforter, and four overstuffed pillows. They are SO comfortable.

Plus, the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin, as well as the Swan Reserve, are all owned by Marriott. That means if you’re a member of the Marriott Bonvoy rewards program, you can earn points for stays at these hotels. You can also use your rewards points to book rooms — SCORE!

Be prepared to see some big changes at this resort! In the meantime, we’re always on the lookout for the latest Disney news, so stay tuned for more.
