Disney is planning to cap off a year full of MASSIVE announcements with — you guessed it — more announcements!

We got quite the news storm during August’s D23 204: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event. All of the theme park news, Disney Cruise Line updates, entertainment sneak peeks, and more still occupy our minds daily and now we have the announcement of The Walt Disney Company CEO Bob Iger’s replacement looming. However, before that happens, Disney has one more date before the new year when news will be delivered compactly.
Taking place on November 14th, 2024, Iger and other Disney executives will host their 4th quarter and 2024 fiscal year earnings call. These meetings are directed towards shareholders and allow Disney to share the financial results of the past quarter and this one in particular will provide a year in review. These calls are also prime opportunities to tease the future.

However, it’s not just shareholders that take an interest in these meetings. Disney fans around the globe tune in to learn more about what the Disney brand will be producing, in the Parks or otherwise. In fact, we’ve thought about three announcements Disney might make at this upcoming earnings call.

Park Attendance
During the Q3 earnings call earlier this year, Disney revealed that attendance had been down at the Disney Parks. Park prices will continue to increase despite attendance not being optimal for the company but the company wasn’t worried at the time.

The Walt Disney Company’s CFO Hugh Johnston said during the call that Disney has found that “higher income consumers are traveling internationally much more. Those people we think are eventually going to come back.” Stating that the theme park industry “is fundamentally in good shape”, Johnston and Disney didn’t seem too worried about the financial slowdown at the time.

Months later, how does The Walt Disney Company feel about park attendance now? What are the trends showing? After putting out a lack of worry in the previous quarter, Disney now owes its shareholders an update about the financial health of its parks so we fully expect speakers to give an update on previous comments.
Hurricane Milton Losses
Florida is fresh off the heels of Hurricane Milton, which caused Disney World to close its theme parks for only the 11th time in Disney World history. Logically, this will come up at the next earnings call.

It’s fair to assume Milton’s forced closure caused a financial impact at Disney and we expect Disney to touch upon that. During the closure, Disney World still operated the hotels, providing guests with food, entertainment, and amenities at a reduced cost.

We’d like to hear what the fallout was, both financially and how they felt about the response. As this is likely not the last natural force to hit Disney World, talking about Milton and its repercussions could shed light on how the company will respond both in practice and financially during future incidents.
Disney+ Changes
Disney+ comes up often at these earnings calls and we’ll be shocked if it doesn’t pop up again. The platform has struggled since its inception to earn a profit but finally turned a corner during Q3.

Disney recently hiked up prices while cracking down on password sharing, which hasn’t been warmly received. Additionally, the service will provide live streams that play continuously such as the Hallowstream, Disney+ playtime, ABC News, Real Life, Throwbacks, and more channels. Since the platform is taking its success and pushing back on the consumer a little more, could we hear about more additions Disney is throwing in to justify these not-so-consumer-friendly changes?

We’re also curious to learn more about how ESPN and HULU will integrate or interact with Disney+. Could we also learn more about Venu, Disney, Fox, and Warner Bros. combined sports streaming service?

We’ll keep you posted on every update out of the earnings call on November 14th so stay tuned right here at AllEars for all the latest!
