BIG Change Announced for Popular Restaurant in EPCOT’s Japan Pavilion

Changes are coming to an EPCOT favorite.

Takumi-Tei menu

EPCOT has long been known as the most “foodie-friendly” Walt Disney theme park thanks to the large and diverse amounts of restaurants and food locations scattered throughout the park’s World Showcase. Now, we know that one of the park’s most unique restaurants is about to change considerably!

Takumi-Tei, located in the Japan Pavilion recently took to its official Instagram account to announce that the restaurant’s menu is changing.

According to the post, “We are honored to announce a significant transformation at Takumi-Tei. Our esteemed Japanese Chef has meticulously redesigned all our courses – 菊-KIKU (Omnivorous), 蓮-HASU (Plant-based), and 向日葵-HIMAWARI (Children’s) – to bring you an unparalleled dining experience. Join us on this culinary journey starting August 1st.”

While menu changes at Disney World restaurants are nothing new, alterations to Takumi-Tei’s menu are not your typical menu changes. The restaurant’s menu is built around a multicourse omakase tasting concept that offers “creatively prepared, Japanese-inspired dishes” Omakase, which loosely translates to “leave it up to the chef” is a “gastronomical experience” during which the chef curates the meal. So, changes made by the chef to the menu castle affect the dining experience.

According to Disney, the menus “are specially designed to delight and surprise both connoisseurs and newcomers to Japanese cuisine. Dishes include Japanese A5 wagyu steak, lobster tempura, seasonal sashimi, and strawberry yuzu sorbet.”

In addition to the unique menu, Takumi-Tei has two further rules that are relatively rare in Disney World. First, the restaurant has a signature dining experience dress code that calls for clean and neat attire that “adheres to the restaurant’s sophisticated and upscale aesthetic.” Secondly, Takumi-Tei has an age requirement, only welcoming guests ages 8 AND ABOVE.
