When you visit any hotel, but especially a Disney World hotel, you hope you don’t run into any unwelcome visitors like cockroaches, ants, and… BATS.

Finding any of these pests anywhere near your hotel is not particularly appealing, and they certainly make you question your accommodation choices. Worry not, these animals aren’t typically found at Disney World hotels. Disney keeps their rooms and resorts in tip-top shape, tidy, and clean. However, there is one hotel at Disney World that actually does have a BAT HOUSE, but we promise it’s for a really good reason.
Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort and Campgrounds (not to be confused with Disney’s Wilderness Lodge which is a Deluxe Resort) has two accommodation options — campsites where you can pitch a tent or stay in your RV or cabins.

The Cabins at Fort Wilderness have just been remodeled and are now part of Disney Vacation Club, though anyone is welcome to rent them. They’re beautiful, indoors, and clean of all bugs and/or bats.

The campgrounds on the other hand are as expected — outdoors. If you bring your own R.V. to stay in, then you may have a nice, comfortable, and relaxing place to stay. Or you can set up camp with an old-fashioned tent! Either way, camping is a fun, inexpensive way to stay at Disney World.

Fort Wilderness offers many amenities such as Hoop-Dee-Doo Revue, The Chuck Wagon, a pool with a waterslide, canoeing, horseback riding, archery, and more. But there is one “amenity” that we’re sure all the campers are happy to have, even if they might not know about it. That is the bat house!

The bat house at Fort Wilderness is there to draw any bats living in the area to it so they don’t bother the campground. Bats are a completely natural animal to Florida and serve a very important role in the environment. But they’re not always welcome around people, so Disney has created this bat house to help keep them away from campers.

So if you plan on camping at Fort Wilderness, know that it is possible that you may see some bats and other wildlife in the area, but Disney is working to keep the animals away and keep you safe.

There are tons of hotel options to choose from when you visit Disney World. Disney offers Value, Moderate, and Deluxe hotels along with The Campsites at Fort Wilderness. Each hotel offers its own unique details, themes, and amenities. You can also opt to stay at non-Disney hotels which can also be great options!
