NEW Tiki Mug and 2 NEW Drinks Debut at Trader Sam’s in Disney World!

It’s that time again, mug collectors.

Trader Sam’s

A brand new tiki mug has debuted at the Polynesian Village Resort’s Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto, featuring a new (to Florida) design and color scheme. In conjunction with the new mug, two new drinks have been added to the menu as well!

The latest Trader Sam’s mug available at Walt Disney World is shaped like a piranha (similar to a Jungle Cruise-themed design Disneyland’s Trader Sam’s has offered in the past) and allows guests to imbibe their drink of choice right from the carnivorous fish’s mouth.

While the basic piranha design has been seen before, this is its first time on the East Coast. In addition, the red color scheme is entirely unique to the Grog Grotto.

Along with the new mug, Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto is offering two new drink additions to its menu.

  • The first is the Cautious Waters, which features Bacardí Superior Rum, Cruzan Mango Rum, and Bacardí Dragonberry Rum with lime juice and flavors of Minute Maid Passion Fruit-Orange-Pineapple Juice and hibiscus.
  • The second is the non-alcoholic Upriver Smiles, which is made up of Lyre’s Spiced Cane Non-Alcoholic Spirit with Orange, lime, and pineapple juices with flavors of blood orange and hibiscus.

The mug, filled with either of the two drinks, is available for $50, with a wristband system and a 2-per-person limit in place.

Lines for new tiki mug offerings can crow quite long

Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto opened at the Polynesian Village Resort in 2015. According to Disney, the establishment is a “whimsically themed lounge—festooned with ancient artifacts and exotic treasures” where you can enjoy a “refreshing, handcrafted cocktail or a savory bite that is sure to satisfy your taste for adventure.”

The Grotto is often crowded with long wait times, so we’d recommend arriving as early as possible.

The Walt Disney World location is a spin-off of the Disneyland Resort’s original Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar. Opened in 2011 and named for the character from Jungle Cruise lore, Trader Sam’s is described as a place where “mystery, romance and adventure await you.”
