NEWS: A Classic Magic Kingdom Ride Is Finally Getting an Upgrade

Disney World has been going through a serious transformation lately.

Disney World

EPCOT has new restaurants, rides, lands, and more, and Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is officially open in Magic Kingdom. Animal Kingdom is about to undergo a major expansion as well, but it looks like one iconic Disney World ride is currently undergoing a much needed renovation!

Disney’s Carousel of Progress is getting some new seats! We spotted them in one of the theaters on a recent visit to Magic Kingdom.

Disney is working on updating the seats throughout all of the theaters but is likely only updating one section at a time. Before the update, the seats were all a solid, blue-green color.

Now, you’ll find a more colorful look featuring blue, red, orange, and green.

In case you’re unfamiliar with this attraction, Walt Disney worked on this attraction himself which debuted at the 1964-1965 New York World’s Fair. The 20-minute show is in a rotating theater and you’ll follow a family throughout the 20th century. Instead of the stage moving, the theater itself rotates from one scene to the next. Think of it like a ride and show all in one.
