NEWS: Disney World Crowds on the Rise, Genie+ Hits Highest Price in WEEKS

There’s a reason we warn you about holiday weekends in Disney World. They’re crowded!

We get it, you probably have some extra time off of work and it just makes sense with your schedule to book a trip. That’s no problem — you’ll just have to prepare! After the TSA saw near record-breaking numbers at airports around the country yesterday, we’re already seeing signs that the holiday weekend crowds have hit Disney World. Let’s talk about it!

Park Passes are not sold out for this weekend so it could be even busier, but we still expect the parks to be more packed than they have been recently. Wait times have been pretty tame but in past years, they increased significantly on Memorial Day Weekend.

We can also tell that the parks will be busy by the price of Genie+. The prices for May 24th, 2024 are as follows:

What does this have to do with the crowds? Well, Genie+ prices are based on demand. When the service first debuted, there was a set price of $15 per person per day. In 2023, Disney decided to add surge pricing so it depends on the day how much you will pay.

Recently, the Magic Kingdom and multi-park options have been sitting around $25-$27 per person. So with the price increase, we can tell that Disney expects more people in the parks today. The last time we saw the first two choices at $29 was on May 4th so it’s been a few weeks!

We’ve seen worse — the highest Genie+ price we’ve seen around certain holidays was $35 per person for the Magic Kingdom and multi-park options.
