Something new is coming to Universal Orlando SOON!
Universal Orlando has seen TONS of changes lately as it works to debut its next new theme park, hotels, and a completely rethemed land set to open this summer. But, these aren’t the only new things on the horizon, Universal Orlando just announced a new parade is on its way!
It’s been a little quiet during the day since Universal Studios abruptly stopped performances of the Universal Superstar Parade that used to stroll through the park.
The former parade was on the shorter side but featured characters like Dora and Boots, Spongebob and Friends, The Secret Life of Pets, Despicable Me characters, and more along with several performers to help keep the celebration coming. The parade ended its run in 2022, and we’ve been waiting for something to replace it for a while now.
Now, we’ve got our wish! Universal Orlando has just announced a NEW parade called the Universal Mega Movie Parade! This new offering will debut on July 3rd, 2024.
Universal describes this new offering on its website, saying that your favorite characters will “leap off screen onto the streets for a daytime parade.” You can expect to see characters from E.T., Back to the Future, Jaws, Ghostbusters, Jurassic World, Illumination’s Minions and Sing, and DreamWorks Animation’s Trolls and Kung Fu Panda.
The parade will run on select days at Universal Studios Florida. It will be Universal Orlando’s largest parade to date with 13 new floats and over 100 performers.
Universal says the following about the segments of the parade:
“Guests will watch in awe as they see the massive 16-foot Stay Puft Marshmallow Man atop the Ghostbusters float, the colorful Caterbus and giant rainbows on the vibrant Trolls float, a live marching drum line perform the iconic movie score of Jaws alongside a float themed to the film, and – for the epic finale – a Gyrosphere, Raptors and the fierce Tyrannosaurus rex aboard the Jurassic World float – and so much more.”
Universal Orlando’s Summer Tribute Store will be themed in honor of the parade and the films it represents. More information about the tribute store will be released soon.
