This has me genuinely thinking I might try an off property hotel next month just as a test. I love being at a Disney hotel (over 200 nights in 15 years) but maybe I should give it a try.
Great idea if you are travelling alone or as a couple. For a family, I’d suggest some of the many VBRO rentals in the area. If staying for a few days or a week, you can easily find 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom condos for about 2/3 the nightly cost of a room at one of the All-Star resorts.
I think a lot of it depends if you absolutely have to be in the Disney bubble, what you can afford, and how much space you and your family need.
For us, we stay in offsite condos. Two bedroom, two bathroom condos can be found for about 2/3 the nightly cost of a regular room at the All-Star resort, and many not more than a short drive to Disney property.
