NEW Update on Magic Kingdom EXPANSION Teased by Disney

Magic Kingdom has changed a lot over the past few years with the 50th anniversary celebration and the opening of attractions like TRON Lightcycle / Run.

The changes keep on coming! Country Bear Jamboree just announced its closing date to be revamped into a totally new show. Tiana’s Bayou Adventure has made major progress in the past few months. But what happens after these projects? Disney just gave us another teaser… .

Disney World plans to expand Magic Kingdom in a big way, and although no concrete plans are being shared publicly at this time, Disney keeps giving us little teasers here and there.

With Disney’s announcement about the Country Bear Jamboree show, they said “We have a lot of growth and investment planned for our theme parks in the coming years and look forward to sharing more announcements about Frontierland.”

WHAT DOES IT MEAN, DISNEY?! As much as we’d love answers about what exactly we can expect from the expansion, it will probably be quite a while.

Disney announced plans to spend $60 billion on parks, experiences, and products in the next 10 years, double what was spent in the past decade. However, Kevin Lansberry, Interim CFO at Disney, said, “We expect those investments to ramp up towards the back half of that 10-year period with more gradual increases in the first few years.” That means we will likely see the big expansions in the second half of these 10 years.

Disney has shared concepts for what could come “beyond Big Thunder Mountain” which could explain why Disney said they will share more announcements for Frontierland. We’ll have to wait and see for sure!

In the meantime, the expansions teased by Disney include an Encanto land (which is also a possibility for Disney’s Animal Kingdom), a Coco land, and a Disney villain land. Here’s a look at the concept art that has been floating around.
