Sometimes it seems like some of the Disney World hotels just can’t catch a break.

That’s especially true when you take to Yelp to find out what the consensus is about that resort. Today, we wanted to give you a couple of the best reasons why you should head on over to Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort no matter what the reviews say.
Before we dive into the details, our resident hotel expert Quincy filmed a tour of the resort, and you can watch it right here.
Now, we love checking out Yelp to help give us a sense of how a restaurant or a hotel might be. On the site, you’ll find that 439 reviewers on Yelp rated the Caribbean Beach Resort at 3.1 out of 5. (Let’s just say that’s not the greatest of scores.)

A quick primer on it: Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort is a VERY large resort with most of it spread out around a 42-acre lake. But it’s right at the Skyliner hub, which makes it easy to get to from EPCOT and Hollywood Studios.

The rooms are in several 2-story buildings that are named for different areas of the Caribbean: Barbados, Martinique, Aruba, Jamaica, Trinidad North, and Trinidad South. It truly is a beautiful resort, and its spread-out design is part of the reason we think you should make a trip!

But enough about that. Let’s talk about the BEST things you can do at the Caribbean Beach Resort that we think you’d really enjoy!
1. The Beach
Now, it’s not called the Caribbean BEACH Resort for no reason. You have to start by checking out the beach. All around the lake called Barefoot Bay, you’ll find a 1.1-mile promenade right along the beaches.

The promenade connects to many winding paths that lead to the rooms and common areas. This is a great area to take a break from all the bustling crowds and unwind with a relaxing walk barefoot through the sands.
2. Caribbean Cay Island
What is the Caribbean full of? Islands! So it should come as no surprise that there would be an island at this resort. You’ll find that in the middle of the lake, there is Caribbean Cay Island. It’s connected to the promenade we talked about earlier by a footbridge on both sides. Looking for a relaxing spot? Look no further! Here you can find other relaxing locations like hammocks and picnic areas.

It’s definitely a great place to curl up with a good book or take an afternoon siesta if you just need a quick break from the Disney crowds. Caribbean Cay also has a playground for younger kids to let off some steam away from all the people.

It’s quite a dreamy location that we’re very fond of for some relaxing space. And the views are pretty great too!

If you were staying at a different Skyliner resort, this would be a great reason to pop on over to this resort for a quick visit.
3. You Can Go Fishing
The Caribbean Beach Resort is one of the few Disney resorts where you can actually go fishing! Here at the resort, you can go on a catch-and-release fishing excursion. If you’re an experienced angler or just want to try fishing for the first time, you can catch a boat from Caribbean Cay Island and try your hand at bass fishing.

This guided experience is a fun way to experience Disney beyond the parks and let’s be honest, a good way to escape the crowds even for a bit.
4. You Have to Visit this Pool
While we’re having fun outdoors, you can’t miss the Pirate-themed main pool, Fuentes del Morro pool, at Old Port Royale, with a 102-foot waterslide! Whenever you’re there, you feel like you’re in a Pirates of the Caribbean movie and there’s no better feeling than that.

It’s a fantastically themed pool you shouldn’t skip, but if you’re looking for a pool with less activity, you can also check out the quiet pools located in each of the regions: Barbados, Martinique, Aruba, Jamaica, Trinidad North, and Trinidad South. They’re no slouches either!
5. Banana Cabana
Banana Cabana is the pool bar at the Caribbean Resort and it is a great reason to travel to the hotel all on its own. It has delicious food and drinks including a few new options recently added to the menu.

From spicy ribs to a signature burger the food is delicious and the Caribbean drinks here are fantastic. This is certainly a good reason to visit the resort!
6. The Mixed Grill Platter at Centertown Market
Centertown Market is located in Old Port Royale, the main building at the resort, from 6AM to midnight. It has several counters with varying food selections. But our favorite food item here is the Mixed Grill Platter.

The platter serves up delicious marinated chicken, barbecued pork ribs, and grilled andouille sausage. It’s also served with fried yucca, seasonal vegetables, mango coleslaw, and a roll. It might be sacrilegious to say this, but it gives Polite Pig a run for its money.
7. Sebastian’s Bistro
Sebastian’s Bistro is a full-table service restaurant located in Old Porte Royale. It is open from 5 to 10 PM and Advance Dining Reservations are available. The fan-favorite character from The Little Mermaid is the star of the show here.

With its colorful Latin theming, family-style eats, and Caribbean flavors, this restaurant in Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort astounds guests with a 9.20 rating and 100% recommendation score.

8. The Skyliner
Last up, the main hub of Disney’s Skyliner is located at Caribbean Beach, south of the Jamaica Village, and it makes Caribbean Beach Resort a prime location due to its easy access to both Epcot and Hollywood Studios via the Skyliner.

Basically, you’ll be able to travel to a LOT of the most popular locations in Disney World from Caribbean Beach. It’s also next door to Disney’s Riviera Resort, so you could easily walk to the Riviera to take advantage of the Skyliner Station located there as well.

So there you have it! We hope we inspired you with a few reasons you should consider staying at this Disney resort. It may not be the newest, flashiest, or fanciest, but trust us, between the location and the atmosphere, you will not be disappointed.

During a very sad time in my life I felt healing by simply walking around the lake at Disney’s Caribbean Beach resort, spotting birds and butterflies, reading in a chair, talking with friends on the phone and sipping on a cocktail. Perhaps people just don’t realize that Disney can be a place of tranquility and well being. I love CB.
