4 Bizarre Things We Love About Disney’s Wilderness Lodge

Have you ever been to Disney’s Wilderness Lodge?

We’ll admit that we LOVE this Disney World hotel because it’s downright gorgeous (and even more so during the holiday season). It also offers a unique character dining experience, Story Book Dining at Artist Point with Snow White, as well as that infamous Bison Cheeseburger at Geyser Point. But there are some more bizarre things this hotel offers that make us love it that much more.

It Has a GEYSER

Wilderness Lodge is inspired by turn-of-the-century National Park lodges of America’s Great Northwest. So you’ll find some landmarks at Wilderness Lodge indicative of those national parks. For example, there’s a geyser, called Fire Rock Geyser, at the resort, just steps away from the lobby.

So if you’re planning on visiting the resort, be sure to set some time aside to see it.

Hidden Train Room

Did you know that there’s a hidden room with a train at Wilderness Lodge? You’ll find the Carolwood Pacific Railroad Room inside the Boulder Ridge Villas at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge. This train even has a story cooked up by Imagineers: this building pre-dates the lodge and was discovered by a team of railroad workers who set up camp there when they helped build the Transcontinental Railway.

When they moved, they left everything behind, and now you can see it for yourself. Of course, this also pays a nod to the love of trains held by Walt Disney.

Whispering Canyon Cafe

Whispering Canyon Cafe is one of those places you have to dine in to believe it. This might be the ROWDIEST dining experience in all of Disney World, but also the most fun. Be sure to catch the “horse races” with kids.

Oh, and whatever you do, be sure to ask for more ketchup (if you know, you know).

Popcorn Flights

You’ve heard of margarita flights, beer flights, and wine flights. Well, get ready for Popcorn Flights! That’s right, if you head on over to Territory Lounge, you’ll find a Popcorn Sampler that includes a flight of five different flavored popcorns.

You can dig into the following popcorn flavors: spicy, caramel, sea salt, truffle, and barbecue-flavored. This isn’t something you’ll find anywhere else in Disney World.
