Thinking of stopping by Gideon’s Bakehouse in Disney Springs this weekend? Well, we have some bad news.

The cookie and cake shop announced a temporary closure on August 31st due to some AC issues. Many may have been hopeful that the issue would be fixed before September 1st since the start of the month marks the drop of NEW or limited-time treats at this spot. But it seems things haven’t quite gone as many might have wished…
UPDATE: As of around 9:30AM on Saturday, September 2nd, Gideon’s shared an update on their Instagram that repairs were not completed last night, so the shop will remain closed today.

However, the Gideon’s Bakehouse location at East End IS open, and it’s a short drive from Disney World.
In an Instagram post shared on September 1st, Gideon’s shared that they’re “saddened to say that Gideon’s at Disney Springs is closed today as [they] scramble to replace a brand-new AC unit.”

In their stories, Gideon’s previously shared that the temporary portable AC units they obtained were not adequately cooling the store yesterday (August 31st). Even with the shop empty and ovens off, the temperature was pushing 100. They explained that the part of their AC that broke is out of stock until late September, so their next step is to replace the AC unit (which was only installed a few months ago).
Since the AC is rather large (the size of a CAR!) replacing it does require some time and planning.

So, for now, all of Gideon’s special September goodies will be launching today at their East End Market location in Orlando (3201 Corrine Dr, Orlando, FL 32803), but their Disney Springs location will be CLOSED today (September 1st).
The limited-time cookies for this month include:
- Lemon Poppy Crumb Cookie AKA Bonnie’s Cookie — A Lemon Poppyseed Cookie filled with Poppyseeds and pockets of White Chocolate, topped with a new covering of Lemon Butter Crumbs covered in a thin Sugar Glaze
- Orange Pecan Chocolate Chip AKA Stuart’s Cookie — A Vanilla Bean Chocolate Chip Cookie infused with Orange magic and topped with Dark Chocolates, South Florida Pecan Pralines, and a Candied Orange Peel

- Cake slices: Every Wednesday & Saturday throughout September, you can grab the Orange Pecan Chocolate Cake and/or Bonnie’s Lemon Crumb Cake
If you want to grab these limited-time cookies today, head to the East End Market location for Gideon’s Bakehouse. Or check back for updates regarding their Disney Springs location and when it may be able to reopen.
