Check Out the NEW Eats and Drinks in San Fransokyo Square at Disneyland Resort

If you love Big Hero 6, there is one place you NEED to go to in Disneyland Resort right now.

The new bridge

The entire Pacific Wharf area of Disney California Adventure Park is in the process of being transformed into San Fransokyo Square — an area themed to the Big Hero 6 film. The land as a whole will open on August 31st. By that point, it’ll feature a Baymax and Hiro meet-and-greet, a new store, and more. But you can enjoy some of the San Fransokyo offerings right NOW!

As part of the re-theme of this space, some existing restaurants in the area have received NEW menu items, and other new/rethemed spots have opened! Let’s take a look at some of these special eats and drinks you can enjoy right now.

Port of San Fransokyo Cervecería (Rethemed Spot!)

First up, we have the rethemed Port of San Fransokyo Cervecería which has officially opened.

Cerveceria

This is essentially a spot dedicated mostly to beer (with one snack on the menu) and a retheme of the beer garden to the side of Cocina Cucamonga.

Here’s a look at the ordering area…

…and more of the signage and decor within the rethemed space behind the counter.

More Signage and Decor

Mobile Order is available here.

It is inspired by “its tri-cultural influences with signage in English, Japanese and Spanish. Outside there is meant to be a fun and inviting beer garden decorated with festoon lights and papel picado.”

But on our visit on July 26th, it didn’t look like much of that area had been transformed just yet. So things here appear to potentially still be a work in progress. We’ll keep an eye out for updates and see if the concept art eventually transforms into reality or if plans for the decor here change.

Seating

Again, most of the menu is focused on various beer options…

…but there is one snack available — the Garlic and Pinwheel Chips Mix ($6.49).

We thought these were great. They have a salty and spicy taste, followed by a hit of garlic. They could be a great snack to walk around the park with.

Rita’s Turbine Blenders (Rethemed Spot!)

Next up, let’s turn to Rita’s Turbine Blenders. This is another rethemed location.

Rita’s

It is located at the former Rita’s Baja Blenders location.

Rethemed Spot

It features margaritas and other “icy beverages.”

Some of the Drink Options

Specifically, you’ll find these drinks on the menu:

  • Turbine Twirler with choice of frozen wild cherry, frozen lemon-lime, frozen strawberry, or frozen blue raspberry slushy topped with peach gummy ring (Non-alcoholic) (New)
  • Rita’s Lemon-Lime Margarita with strawberry cream-covered cocoa biscuit stick (New)
  • Rita’s Grand Lemon-Lime Margarita with a splash of liqueur and strawberry cream-covered cocoa biscuit stick (New)
  • Rita’s Strawberry Margarita with strawberry cream-covered cocoa biscuit stick (New)
  • Rita’s Grand Strawberry Margarita with a splash of liqueur and strawberry cream-covered cocoa biscuit stick (New)

We tried the Grand Lemon-Lime Margarita with a Strawberry Cream-covered Cocoa Biscuit Stick. This was sort-of like a lemon-lime Gatorade with a bit of a tequila taste — great if you like citrus flavors.

We also tried the Turbine Twirler in the Blue Raspberry flavor with a peach gummy ring. This was VERY sweet and had a strong blue raspberry flavor, but it melted really quickly.

Cocina Cucamonga Mexican Grill (New Eats!)

Next up, we made our way to Cocina Cucamonga. This is NOT a new or rethemed restaurant. It’s been here for a while, but it does have NEW eats and drinks thanks to the San Fransokyo retheme of the entire area.

In terms of new items, we grabbed the San Fransokyo-style Street Corn with Togarashi mayonnaise, queso fresco, furikake, and bonito flakes served with wheat chicharrones. The corn had a sweet flavor, was served fresh and warm, and there was a hint of spice from the mayo. There is a bit of a fishy flavor to this one from some of the ingredients though, so keep that in mind.

We also tried the NEW Melon Cocktail: Tequila, melon liqueur, fresh lemon juice, and orgeat topped with a cherry. This was really nice and refreshing.

Lucky Fortune Cookery (New Eats!)

Previously, we were also able to stop by Lucky Fortune Cookery to try some new items. Again, this isn’t a new restaurant but instead is just a restaurant that got some new eats thanks to the retheme.

We tried the NEW Karaage-inspired Crispy Chicken Sandwich with slaw, and Togarashi mayonnaise on a potato bun served with garlic chips…

…NEW Beef Birria Ramen with consomé, served with house-made birria, soft boiled egg, Monterey Jack, cilantro, roasted corn, onions, and radish…

You can’t go wrong with noodles, right?

…NEW Lychee Tea: Gold Peak Unsweetened Black Tea and premium lychee syrup with lychee coconut jelly (Non-alcoholic)…

…and NEW Baymax Macaron filled with chocolate-hazelnut spread and buttercream. See some of our thoughts on these eats and the drink here!

How CUTE!

That’s a look at some of the NEW Disneyland eats and drinks that have arrived so far. But there’s more to come! Aunt Cass’ Cafe is still set to open in the future. That’ll feature Curry Beef, Clam Chowder, a Japanese-style Fluffy Cheesecake, and more.
