A NEW 15-Layer Cake Is Now Available in EPCOT — Here’s Where to Find It!

It’s hard not to get excited when Disney announces new snacks that we can try when we visit the parks.

Connections Café

Recently, we’ve seen TONS of new eats make their way onto menus at Disney World — from Pride Month snacks to sea turtle cookies. Yet another new snack has made its way to EPCOT (as of June 6th). Let’s check it out!

Disney recently shared on Instagram that a new snack — Baumkuchen — would be making its way onto the menu at Connections Café at EPCOT and now it is HERE! What’s Baumkuchen, you ask? Well, lucky for you, (and for us), Disney provided us with a brief German lesson.

Baum is German for ‘tree,’ and kuchen is German for ‘cake.’ That’s right, this new snack is TREE CAKE! As far as pronunciation, let Chef Stefan demonstrate by watching the video above.

More About Tree Cake

The cake is made by forming a “trunk” on a sort of rod — to us, it looks like a wooden rolling pin — by layering cake batter.

We could see the Cast Members in Disney World hard at work making this cake a reality!

There It Goes!

Pretty neat, right?

Apparently, learning how to make this snack is part of the exam to become a master pastry chef in Germany — so it’s very important!

So Cool

The snack was brought from Japan to Germany and has become a big part of the Japanese culinary scene too.

In Japan, the flavors of the cake can include green tea and yuzu.

A Little Different

Traditionally though, the cake is made with butter, eggs, vanilla, sugar, and flour.

What It’s Made With

Once sliced, the layers of the cake (there are 15 of them!) look like the rings of a tree. How cool is that?

Well That’s Awesome

At Connections Cafe, you’ll find both a vanilla…

…and a chocolate version.

We had to get one of each (of course). Here’s another look at the vanilla in the box…

All Boxed Up

…and the chocolate one in the box. Look at those layers!

Oh We’re VERY Excited

Each of the cakes is priced at $5.99. We REALLY enjoyed these! The vanilla one featured a soft and fluffy cake with a light coating on the outside that wasn’t overwhelming.

Hello Cake!

Some layers can feel a little dry but that didn’t stop us from enjoying it. Just be warned that it isn’t totally covered in icing, so if you’re someone who loves icing, that might be a little bit of a disappointment.

A Peek Inside

The chocolate version was a little heavier of a snack and was definitely messy, but it was still SO GOOD.

Our Cake

If you love milk chocolate and cake, this is one you could LOVE.

What do you say? Will you be trying the Baumkuchen?

YUM

We’ll continue to keep you updated with any and all Disney news — including when we see that new desserts are coming to Disney World. After all, dessert IS the most important meal of the day.
