BREAKING: BRAND NEW Restaurant Revealed for EPCOT!

There are SO many things to love about Disney, but one of the really big ones is the FOOD!

EPCOT

From spots like Gideon’s Bakehouse in Disney Springs to fancier fare like what they’re serving up over at Victoria & Albert’s, you can find a whole bunch of different types of options when it comes to dining at Disney. And soon, there’ll be one MORE spot to choose from because Disney has just announced a NEW restaurant coming to EPCOT!

Disney has just shared that a BRAND NEW restaurant will be opening up at EPCOT’s Japan Pavilion called Shiki-Sai: Sushi Izakaya. It will be located on the second floor of the Japan pavilion and will open this summer.

Tokyo Dining has been on the second floor of the pavilion for a while (along with Teppan Edo) but Tokyo Dining has been closed for an extended refurbishment and was set to open this summer. While Disney hasn’t explicitly confirmed this, it seems this new restaurant could take the place of Tokyo Dining based on some parts of its description.

Here’s what you need to know about this NEW spot:

  • It’ll be a table-service restaurant
  • It’ll feature a “festive dining experience in a sharable Izakaya-style
  • Each month will bring a “new celebration to your table” to honor the various seasonal festivals from Japan (that may include “hanging Tanabata in July to savoring moon-viewing dumplings in September”)
  • A cultural representative from Japan will be the one guiding you through each “festival experience”
  • There will be hand-painted artwork and lanterns “highlighting some of the natural wonders that Japan offers as well”
  • The spot will have views overlooking EPCOT and the fireworks

The menu will feature Japanese items like sushi, teppan items, an open sushi bar, and a grill. You’ll even be able to sit at the sushi bar and watch sushi be made before you.

Plus, in terms of design, Disney has shared that there will be a “magnificent trellis inspired by the roof of the Phoenix Hall in Kyoto that will mesmerize your eyes while the food captivates your taste buds.”

Now, let’s go through a brief overview of the menu. Some options from the sushi bar will include:

  • Kobore Sushi — “negi toro and nakaochi tuna elegantly paired with salmon roe and green onion”
  • Tokyo Negi Roll — “green onion tempura rolled with tuna tataki and topped with jalapeno aïoli, shredded carrot, and sliced jalapeno”
  • Funamori — “sashimi and sushi arranged on a boat-shaped platter”
  • The Monster Roll

Other menu items will highlight Japanese Izakaya (“a type of casual pub-style restaurant”). These may include things like:

  • Karaage Chicken
  • Salmon Misoyaki
  • Tomato Salad with Avocado

From the grill you’ll be able to check out:

  • Okonomiyaki — “Japanese savory pancake is made with a batter of flour, eggs, and water, and then filled with shredded cabbage and bacon, and topped with tangy okonomiyaki sauce, mayonnaise, aonori, bonito flakes, and pickled ginger”
