9 Major Construction Changes Happened in Disney World This Week

There has been a LOT happening in Disney World recently!

EPCOT

We had the closure of a major ride, the return of a character experience, some restaurant changes, and soon, we’ll have the opening of the TRON Lightcycle / Run coaster. We can’t wait for more excitement in 2023! And if you’re like us, you might want to check out this week’s construction update from around the parks — there are some big changes.

Magic Kingdom

We’ve got to start things out at Magic Kingdom, where construction near the TRON Lightcycle / Run coaster is coming to an end. But this week had one more surprise in store — a new snack stand popped up outside the ride!

In other exciting news, Sonny Eclipse has returned to Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe after an extended hiatus. The animatronic alien was gone during the holiday season and the stage remained under construction for a few weeks after.

Over at the former home of Splash Mountain, we spotted some changes in the queue. The entrance to the interior part of the queue has been blocked off now.

The last time we could see inside, it looked like some sort of makeshift workshop was set up in that room. This week we could hear drilling coming from inside.

EPCOT

As usual, there are plenty of updates to share from EPCOT! The area next to Guest Relations is coming along, and it looks like more dirt was recently added to help level the ground and prepare for paving.

Over at the former Cool Wash, a new sign has been put up for the “Refreshment Station.” We saw this sign previously, but it was taken down shortly after being put up. The inside of this snack stand has also been paved.

CommuniCore Hall made a big change this week, as metal supports were added to the side of the building! Maybe soon we’ll start to see some walls go up.

At Journey of Water — Inspired by Moana, more of the pathway has been dug out to complete the rest of the attraction. Once they pour concrete here, it will start to look more like the concept art!

We’re definitely ready to walk through the middle of EPCOT again — we can’t wait to see these projects completed!

Hollywood Studios

There was also a big change at Roundup Rodeo BBQ in Disney’s Hollywood Studios this week! The construction walls around the restaurant were removed and replaced with rolling hedges.

The restaurant opens next month, so we’re just a few weeks away from getting to see what it looks like inside.

Disney Resorts

Finally, we’re making a stop at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort to show you what construction looks like on the new DVC building. Things are coming along quickly!

We’ve seen a few more small structures pop up and they’ve certainly moved quite a bit of dirt around recently.

Those are all the major updates we have for you this week — stay tuned to AllEars to get the details on all of these projects as they officially get completed!
