In a stunning move this past November, the Walt Disney Company had a major shake-up in CEOs.

News broke that former CEO Bob Chapek would be leaving, with his predecessor, Bob Iger, re-taking the reigns for a two-year term. Now, Iger is sending a holiday message during the festive season.
In a message sent to D23 members, Iger expressed his gratitude for Disney fans, writing, “As we approach the end of 2022, I wanted to take a moment to express my gratitude to the biggest Disney fans in the world – all of you.”

He continued with:
“Disney is fortunate to have the most devoted and enthusiastic fans, and I was reminded of this a few weeks ago when I visited Disneyland Resort and attended the Candlelight Processional. It was invigorating to be surrounded by so many guests who make what we do possible. We love your passion for our company and your enthusiasm for what we create, and we will continue to do our best to exceed your highest expectations.
As you know, next year Disney will mark its 100th anniversary. We are immeasurably grateful to the generations of fans all around the globe who have invited our stories and characters into their lives, and we look forward to celebrating the groundbreaking moments, the cherished memories, and the creative visionaries that made Disney the most beloved name in entertainment over the past century.
During the coming year, D23 will launch a slate of exciting events to mark this historic milestone.
Looking at all the opportunities ahead, I can honestly say there has never been a better time to be a Disney fan. It is an extraordinary privilege to lead this remarkable company again, and I am so grateful for your continued passion for Disney. On behalf of all of us at The Walt Disney Company, I wish you a wonderful holiday season and a very happy and prosperous New Year.”

In the year ahead, Disney will be celebrating its 100th anniversary, with the big event kicking off on New Year’s Eve. You can read more details on the 100th anniversary nighttime spectacular here, along with a look at the NEW 100th anniversary merchandise here!

He is joking, isn’t he! I got the email too and coming so soon after an ‘interesting’ visit to WDW, staying at Pop I beg to differ with Bob’s sentiments.
My main memory of my recent trip was the CMs, while most were lovely there were far too many who need further training in customer service or providing ‘magical experiences’. Rude, argumentative, even supervisors and a young lady at guest relations in MK, not to mention several who thought it okay to complain about their lot to guests. I asked to go in the front car of Guardians because I found the back car too rough and the CM was unbelievably rude, but, he was not alone, I witnessed rudeness to other guests. As a guest of 33 years I was disgusted by this.
As for Pop, my room was not cleaned properly, the sink was blocked with hair and other muck. The toilet paper was not replenished at one point and I had to call down for more, the housekeeper had come in removed the empty roll and not replaced it or even left any for me to put on the holder!
Does Bob realise guests bring their own cleaning materials for their rooms? Does he know that people being hired are not being trained properly or they simply don’t care?
This is a good time for Bob and the shareholders, but, for guests? He needs a reality check.
I have a trip booked for August, but, I’m rethinking that now.
Yeah, got the email, too. Did an eye roll, thinking, yeah, maybe he realizes the bad PR problem to his dedicated Disney fans, and sending this out to kiss up to the fans. Last Disney trips for the past years with either Bob in charge was not as magical as the were in the 70s, 80s, and 90s and early 2000s. Did not see a great fireworks show for the 50th Disney anniversary, pretty disappointing show IMO. Maybe the 100th will be more spectacular and encompass the whole history of Disney, not just the last 3 years of movies. definitely not spiking the football with recent changes. Time will tell how serious the leadership is to get Disney world back to a magical experience and more customer based, right now is my impression from Disney is, how do we overcharge and provide less services and great experiences, like we did in the past.Disney is not a good value for money currently IMO.
Last time I was at WDW , I was so disappointed in the cleanliness of the room, it was really filthy. That was 2016. I have not been back since. I really used to love WDW. Now I’m not interested in going there. My first time there was 1972, I was a young navy recruit. It was so magical. Disney is not the same when I was younger. Best of Luck Mickey. You have broken a lot of hearts lately.
