Halloween is coming up sooner than you may think!

The Halloween season will take place from September 2nd through October 31st at Disneyland Resort this fall, and we just found out about a bunch of the festivities. So, let’s check out EVERYTHING that’s returning to Disneyland Resort for Halloween this year!
Disneyland Park
Haunted Mansion Holiday will be returning to New Orleans Square this year! The iconic attraction will get its annual seasonal makeover to a The Nightmare Before Christmas-themed ride. Get ready to see the mansion’s annual bespoke gingerbread house, as well as Jack Skellington.
This offering will start on September 2nd, 2022.

Speaking of Jack Skellington, keep an eye out for this beloved character, as well as Sally. Both characters are set to return to Disneyland starting September 2nd.

The supernatural showcase “Halloween Screams“ is also returning this year, which is a vibrant projection and light show. This show will return starting September 2nd.
On weekend nights the show will feature fireworks (in other words, you won’t be able to see the fireworks portion of this show on all nights, so just keep that in mind).
You’ll be able to see the show from several different locations around the park, including Main Street, U.S.A., Sleeping Beauty Castle, and in front of “it’s a small world”.

From September 2nd through November 2nd, 2022, you can also encounter a vibrant display showing the traditions of Día de los Muertos, featuring a musical trio of iconic skeleton figurines, brightly colored flowers, and other festive decorations located in Frontierland.
Also, throughout the park, you might run into some of your favorite Disney characters in their Halloween looks, including some NEW looks for Mickey and Minnie!

There will also be some seasonal decor transforming Main Street, U.S.A. like whimsical pumpkin displays.

The iconic giant Mickey Mouse pumpkin will of COURSE be back as well!
Disney California Adventure Park
Oogie Boogie will loom over then entrance to California Adventure, channeling his magic to create a “forever Halloween,” which will transform favorite attractions with eerie and ethereal details.

Radiator Springs will be transformed into Radiator Screams, where resident “car-acters” will transform their homes with unique Haul-O-Ween twists. You can find Lightning McQueen, Mater, Cruz, and Red in their best “car-stumes.”
You’ll also be able to go on popular Cars Land rides that are all ready for Halloween! Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree will have a spooky soundtrack to become Mater’s Graveyard JamBOOree, and Luigi’s Rollickin’ Roadsters will become Luigi’s Honkin’ Haul-O-Ween. These ride overlays return September 2nd.

When it gets dark in Avengers Campus, Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! will turn into Guardians of the Galaxy – Monsters After Dark, an “exciting and spooky adventure filled with creepy creatures and thrilling drops.” (This returns September 2nd.)

Over on Buena Vista Street, Mickey Mouse and friends will be sporting their old-fashioned Halloween styles, ready for photos with you! Festive Halloween decorations will also add to the ambiance on Buena Vista Street.
Once the sun goes down, the front of Carthay Circle Restaurant will come alive with Halloween magic as bats swarm, green energy pulses from within, and projections light up the iconic tower structure!
And, you’ll want to grab a photo in front of the 10-foot-tall statue of the Headless Horseman holding his jack-o’-lantern head high in the sky!

Plaza de la Familia will also be returning to Paradise Gardens at Disney California Adventure park this year! It will run from September 2nd through November 2nd, 2022. This is an immersive, limited-time celebration inspired by the spirit of Día de los Muertos.
The event features live entertainment, festive foods, crafts, and more. Some of the activities include “A Musical Celebration of Coco,” which is a lively street performance honoring Disney and Pixar’s Coco and the everlasting bonds of family.

You can also enjoy Mariachi music at Paradise Gardens Bandstand, The World of Coco, an intriguing art installation, a photo opportunity at the Arbol de la Vida (Tree of Life) photo location and memory wall, as well as a greeting with a hand-animated figure of Miguel from Coco.
And you’ll get the chance to make your own paper alebrije mask of Pepita or Dante!
Oogie Boogie Bash is also returning to the park this year! It will happen on 23 select nights beginning September 6th through October 31st, 2022. This is a separately-ticketed, after-park hours event.

It’s limited capacity and will feature unique entertainment, trick-or-treating, character sightings in their Halloween costumes, and more.

Then, you’ll search for pumpkins themed to Disney characters and match the locations with the stickers. Whether you go hunting or not, you can then return the game board to a redemption location to get a prize.
