We know, we know — we’re not supposed to talk about Bruno. But we just can’t help it!
And apparently, neither can most people because the new Disney animated hit Encanto has been in the spotlight since it was first released. The award-winning film has long been rumored to be coming to the Disney parks in some capacity, with many fans hopeful that it will one day happen. Encanto songwriter Lin-Manuel Miranda had even chimed in and shared his support for the idea, going so far as to say, “The Imagineers are on it.” And now, another important party has commented on a potential Encanto experience coming to the Disney parks!
According to Christine McCarthy, Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of The Walt Disney Company, an Encanto experience could be coming to the Disney parks sooner than we think.
At the 9th Annual MoffettNathanson Media and Communications Summit on Wednesday, McCarthy shared, “Something that’s not yet really in the parks but I think you will see it soon is something like Encanto.” She then continued, “It was really just wonderful and the music, you know, that, elements of that could be incorporated into the park experience.”
What exactly this could mean remains unclear — maybe there is a stage show in the works or even a music-based attraction — but of course, Disney is keeping it quiet.
McCarthy went on to say that parts of the future Encanto park experience “will be transitory, some of it will be more permanent, certainly when we put like a Marvel Avengers Campus, that’s more permanent, but we can do things with entertainment that really are relevant.”
Could this mean an entire Encanto-themed land? Star of Disney’s Frozen Josh Gad had previously voiced his support for a Colombia pavilion in EPCOT — and we can certainly get behind that idea!
