5 Big Construction Updates from Disney World This Week

There’s a lot going on in Disney World these days!

We’re gearing up for big ride openings, new restaurants, and the return of some popular offerings in the theme parks. And with all these exciting happenings, there’s a lot of construction going on in Disney World. Today, we’re sharing the latest construction updates you need to know about!

Magic Kingdom

Let’s kick things off at the OG Disney World park, Magic Kingdom! Here, construction for the Tron coaster is in full swing! Last week we spotted testing with the ride vehicles, but this week, work has mostly continued (at least where we can see!) on the exterior areas. It’s coming along, but there’s still a lot of progress to be made — the ride likely won’t open for several months.

EPCOT

There are several projects taking place in EPCOT right now, but the one that’s opening next will be the Connections Cafe and Eatery. We’ve already had some sneak peeks at the details of the restaurant and seen the full menu, but this week the Starbucks logo sign went up on the outside of the building. We’ve been missing our interior Starbucks location at this park, and we’re excited to have it return in a new spot!

Perhaps the most exciting project that’s in progress at EPCOT is the Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind coaster. Not much changed here in front of the building this week, but it does look like the general atmosphere is coming together with the completion of the Starblaster ship and the shrubbery.

But over in World Celebration, Moana — Journey of Water isn’t nearly as put-together! This area in the middle of the park is still a heavy construction zone and nothing major has taken shape yet, but we’ll keep watching.

Finally, there has been some construction going on at the former Guest Relations location. Here, scaffolding has been erected in front of the building, and there’s a big wall up blocking the area from guests.

Hollywood Studios

We’re still watching construction over in Toy Story Land at the exit of Toy Story Mania. The gift shop has been covered up for a while, and this week there haven’t been any major changes. We’ll let you know when the refurbishment is complete.
