5 MAJOR Changes Coming to Disney’s BoardWalk

Disney World has seen some MAJOR changes in the past few years.

EPCOT

We’re talking everything from new hotels (some that are VERY intricate!) to full theme park transformations (we’re looking at you, EPCOT). Now, one of Disney’s fanciest resorts is getting some big updates, and we’re here to break down all the changes coming soon!

Over the next few years, Disney’s BoardWalk will be getting some major renovations, both out on the BoardWalk itself and inside the hotel area. Here’s the full list of what’s coming!

The Cake Bake Shop by Gwendolyn Rogers

First of all, a new table service restaurant and bakery will be coming soon. The Cake Bake Shop is expected to open in 2023 and will offer “both savory and dessert menus, along with afternoon tea service, in a whimsical atmosphere that complements the magic of the idyllic charm of Disney’s BoardWalk.”  We can’t wait to check it out!

New Sandwich Shop

Also in dining changes, the BoardWalk Bakery will be transformed into a new sandwich shop. Here, guests will be able to enjoy a quick bite along the water’s edge, joining the lineup of dining options like BoardWalk Ice Cream.

We can’t wait to try all the new sandwiches!

Lobby Changes

According to Disney, the lobby and lounge of the BoardWalk Inn will also be getting some updates. The space will be highlighted with light and airy touches, “carrying the seaside breeze right inside.” It’s really going to brighten up the space.

But the changes aren’t stopping at the lobby! The rooms at the BoardWalk Inn will be getting a matching “light and airy” makeover. It will be the latest in a series of room upgrades at Disney World’s Deluxe resorts,  with renovations already completed at the Contemporary and the Polynesian, and currently in progress at the Grand Floridian.

Coffee Bar

And finally, the BoardWalk Inn is getting a new coffee bar! Just off the lobby, you’ll be able to have artisanal beverages and quick bites at this new spot. There will also be refreshed seating areas where you can enjoy your treats, both indoors and outdoors. After seeing coffee bars in Gran Destino Tower and the Riviera Resort, we’re excited to have another!

  1. We stayed at Boardwalk in February 2022. I agree with Julie, Boardwalk needs more moderately priced restaurants! We are not the type that go for a $50 entree. My husband felt there were very limited food options unless we decided to go across the lake or to Swan and Dolphin. And they do need a coffee shop with more food choices inside the hotel. The rooms are looking somewhat dated and could use a refresher. This is not our home resort but we stay here whenever we are going to EPCOT or Hollywood Studios which is what makes it really worthwhile!!!

  2. I’ve been a DVC member since 1998 with the Boardwalk as my home resort. Sad that ESPN has not reopened and even sadder that the dining option they are putting in it’s place is so upscale!!
The Boardwalk was always a great location to stay because of the options and variety of dining.
Now all we get is signature options.
What is a group going to do on a Saturday night now?
    Bad choice Disney World
Bring back a moderately priced option that caters to all clientele.
