Disney Cruise Line has seen many changes since the start of the global pandemic.

Cruises were put on pause for a while, health and safety requirements were updated, and vaccines are now required to set sail on a Disney Cruise ship. But now, Disney is making another change to the requirements for guests aboard their ships.
Starting on March 11th, 2022, face coverings will be optional in most indoor locations on Disney Cruise ships. Disney has said that this update comes following recently updated guidance from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Face masks will still be required for everyone ages 2 and up on sailings that embark through March 10th, 2022. These requirements include wearing face masks indoors unless you are in your room or actively eating or drinking while stationary and physically distanced.

Disney should be sending emails about these updates to people going on cruises during the following upcoming dates:
- Disney Wonder – March 11th to April 17th, 2022
- Disney Magic – March 11th to May 8th, 2022
- Disney Fantasy – March 11th to May 28th, 2022
- Disney Dream – March 11th to May 30th, 2022
Do note that these face mask updates are only for sailings originating from a U.S. port of departure.

Masks WILL still be required for guests ages 2 and up while in The Walt Disney Theatre on the ships, regardless of vaccination status.
And, guests under 5-years-old who are ineligible to be vaccinated will be required to wear face coverings in Youth Activity spaces and in the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique. Disney is still strongly recommending these guests wear a face covering in all other locations as well.

Also note that face masks may still be required in ports of call due to local government requirements. So, even though masks are becoming optional in most spaces on the ships, you will still need to bring masks on board with you to have for these situations listed above. Here’s a look at the requirements for face masks on board.

As of this writing, ALL vaccine-eligible guests are still required to be vaccinated against COVID-19 to go on a Disney Cruise. This is a requirement for all guests ages 5 and older. Guests who are not vaccine-eligible because of age have to provide proof of a negative COVID-19 test result take between 3 days and 24 hours before their sail date.
