Marvel’s Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings arrived in theaters over Labor Day weekend and saw huge Box Office success.
Not only did it break a record for Labor Day movie debuts, but it also remained #1 in the box office for two weekends in a row and has earned the spot as the highest-grossing film of 2021. The movie is now available for free to all Disney+ subscribers, but it looks like this won’t be the only time we see Shang-Chi on the big screen!
According to Variety, it has been confirmed that Marvel is currently working on a sequel to Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings with director and writer, Destin Daniel Cretton returning for the movie.
Cretton is also reportedly working on a new Marvel series for Disney+ and has signed a multi-year deal with Marvel Studios and Hulu’s Onyx collective that will enable him to work on additional TV projects in the future.
No details have been released on the timeline for when we may expect to see the sequel (or even what it will be about), but we’ll keep an eye out for updates! And, in the meantime, be sure to stay tuned to AllEars for more of the latest Disney and Marvel news!
