The all-new Disney+ series, Hawkeye, will have a special surprise for fans when it debuts.
The award-winning duo, Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman, have joined forces with Marvel Studios to add some musical flair to the soon-to-be-released series!
Who would’ve guessed you could find a musical number in a Marvel series? Well, according to Marvel.com, the songwriting team of Shaiman and Wittman (who you might know as the team behind the music of Hairspray) made it happen thanks to one “film score nerd” — President of Marvel Studios, Kevin Feige.
Focusing on the Battle of New York featured in The Avengers, Rogers: The Musical will be featured in the upcoming Disney+ series Hawkeye set to debut on November 24th.
While attending an Academy Award dinner, Marvel.com reports that Shaiman was tapped on the shoulder, “Excuse me, Kevin Feige would love to meet you.” Turns out, Feige knew their work! Unfortunately, neither Shaiman nor Wittman was very familiar with Marvel.
However, that didn’t stop them. They told Marvel.com, “We got this assignment during the height of the pandemic, so I [Wittman] had many hours and watched many of the movies…Much to my delight, I was really quite amazed at all the kind of sly fun that existed in them and I was hoping to get that into the song.”
Even though Shaiman and Wittman are new to the Marvel Universe, they quickly noticed how dedicated Marvel fans can be. “We’ve worked on a lot of stuff that goes around the world, but man, there’s nothing like the Marvel fans and how they look [for hidden details] and everything,” they told Marvel.com.
You can get a closer look at Rogers: The Musical when the new Disney+ series debuts with a two-episode premiere on November 24th!
