One of the best places to visit in Disney World during the holidays is all the resorts around the property.

Not only will you find delicious treats at many of the hotels, but they often have elaborate holiday decorations. Over at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, you can visit the life-sized storybook gingerbread house, and, at Disney’s Beach Club Resort, the huge gingerbread carousel is BACK as well and we’re heading in to check it out!
The gingerbread carousel is a tradition at the Beach Club Resort where Cast Members create a life-sized carousel out of REAL gingerbread! In the past, we’ve seen themes like Donald Duck or Peter Pan for the carousel and, while it wasn’t around last year due to COVID-19 health and safety measures, Disney is bringing it back once again!

We caught a glimpse of this incredible carousel horse with a chocolate mane and music notes, along with under-the-sea details like a seashell and some seaweed.

There’s also a carousel horse designed to resemble the sea witch, Ursula. This horse has a white and black chocolate mane, tentacle details, and even Flotsam and Jetsam riding along.

In honor of Disney World’s 50th-anniversary celebration, you’ll also notice a 50the emblem on the top of the carousel, next to the snowflakes. And check out those chocolate shingles and “snow” icing!

We also could see Cast Members working on Scuttle and Flounder so we’ll keep an eye out for where they end up on the display.

It may look like a carousel now, but there’s still a lot of work to be done before it’s fully complete, so Cast Members were still piping white icing on the top of the carousel.

And, if looking at all that gingerbread makes you hungry, there was also a Cast Member handing out gingerbread samples!

He shared with us some behind-the-scenes details (along with a tasty sampling), telling us that they actually start making all the gingerbread for the display in July.

The Little Mermaid carousel will be at the Beach Club until January 2nd, 2022.

And, if you want to see more amazing gingerbread creations, head to Disney’s Yacht Club Resort for a miniature holiday village with a working train, or to Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort for the life-size gingerbread house.
