NEWS: Disney Will Install a GIANT Art Piece on International Drive Next Year

Even the travel to Disney World can be exciting when you’re going on vacation.

Disney billboards get you excited for your vacation as you arrive!

Whether you’re coming to the parks through the Orlando International Airport or driving down, you’re sure to see quite a few Disney advertisements and billboards before you hit the resort area. But, soon there will be another exciting thing to see before you even it the parks — and it’s going to be HUGE.

According to the Orlando Business Journal, Disney has received approval to build a new art installation on International Drive that will span 30 feet tall and 337 feet long. This project has been in the works for a little while now, but the city has recently granted approval for Disney to seek out building permits.

Renderings of the display show that it will feature an image of Slinky Dog Dash (the roller coaster in Disney’s Hollywood Studios) and will say “Toy Story Land” with the little green aliens from the movie. And, once complete, the art piece will be positioned on the Hollywood Plaza garage and face I-4 pointing north towards downtown.

In addition to the art piece, Orlando Business Journal reports that Disney will also have retail space on the ground floor of the Hollywood Plaza.

Construction is projected to begin in 2022 and last less than a year and Disney will be partnering with Mitsubishi for the installation. We will continue to keep an eye out for updates on the project, so be sure to stay tuned to AllEars for the latest!
