If you’re a BIG Star Wars fan, then there are some names you probably recognize like George Lucas (of course), Kathleen Kennedy, Jon Favreau, and…Dave Filoni.

Fans of Filoni know him for his work on quite a few Star Wars projects including The Mandalorian, The Clone Wars, and more. And now it looks like Filoni has gotten a bit of title change!
As you can see on the Lucasfilm website, Dave Filoni’s title now includes Executive Creative Director of the entire studio. While many Star Wars fans have recently taken to celebrate this fantastic promotion, it turns out that this promotion is actually not that new.

As Variety reports, Lucasfilm actually quietly promoted Dave Filoni to executive creative director for the studio last year. But, the company didn’t update its website with Filoni’s new title until this past week, which is when it exploded on the internet!

Fans were sharing their congratulations all over social media, particularly on Twitter. Even Mandalorian actress Ming-Na Wen sent her congratulations.
Filoni is beloved by many fans for his work on numerous Star Wars projects including the Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated series, which went on to have 7 seasons and create fan-favorite characters like Ahsoka Tano. Filoni was actually selected by George Lucas to help build Lucasfilm’s animation studio from the ground up and work on Clone Wars.

Filoni then went on to create Star Wars Rebels and Star Wars Resistance, two more series.
He was then tapped to executive produce The Mandalorian, which went on to become a MASSIVE hit. Filoni is co-executive producing several Mandalorian spinoffs with Jon Favreau, including The Book of Boba Fett and Ahsoka.

And Filoni is the creator and executive producer of the new Disney+ series Star Wars: The Bad Batch.

While Filoni’s promotion may not be brand new, it is still being celebrated by many Star Wars fans everywhere. We’ll officially join in and say — Dave Filoni, CONGRATS!!
We’re definitely looking forward to seeing Filoni’s work on those upcoming Mandalorian spinoffs and watching how his input and creativity helps shape future Star Wars projects. We’ll be on the lookout for more updates and let you know what we find!

Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni. . . a dream team. just let them run with everything from here out and every single piece of work released will be a smash.
The Bad Batch is great. The Mandalorian was awesome. The final season of the clone wars was so well done. I don’t even need nature films anymore. Just give us series content like they have been releasing. Better yet just give Jon Favreau complete control over all of Disney Studio releases.
