Disney World recently announced that after hours parties and events will begin to make their way back into the theme parks, at least in a modified form. While Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party will not go on in 2021, it will be replaced, at least this year, by Disney After Hours Boo Bash!

Does this news mean we could see even more after hours events return to Disney World, including Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party or Villains After Hours?
Reasons why we COULD see more after hours events:
Before Boo Bash was announced, there was an understandable level of uncertainty over whether or not Disney World would bring back after hours parties and events at all in 2021. Now, however, there’s good reason to believe that Disney World wants to bring after hours back in some capacity this year, as safely and responsibly as possible.

Boo Bash will feature a lot of similarities to Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party, including shortened wait times for your favorite rides and attractions, the chance to dress up in your favorite Halloween costume, and oh yeah, LOTS of candy. Major differences, of course, include shorter hours and the fact that there will be no fireworks or full parades.

It’s likely that Disney World has spent the last year figuring out ways to safely bring back events like this and make them as close to what guests remember and expect as possible. There’s a clear demand from more guests wanting to return to Disney World through Park Passes booking up, especially in anticipating for Disney World’s 50th Anniversary Celebration. After hours parties like Boo Bash are a great tool to incentivize guests to return while offering a ticketed event that controls crowd levels in the parks.

Disney has already indicated that “added hours” in the theme parks will return through Early Theme Park Entry, a perk exclusively for Disney World resort guests. So, after hours events like Boo Bash seemed like the next logical step.

Not to mention, lots of other things have begun to reopen at a more steady pace throughout Disney World! We’re expecting the return of BIG entertainment in the parks like Festival of the Lion King this month, along with more resort hotel reopenings in the coming weeks and months, including Disney’s Beach Club Resort, Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, and Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort.

Reasons we may NOT see more after hours events:
Despite reasons to think that we’re on a path to after hours parties becoming a regular part of the Disney World experience again, there’s still cause for concern when it comes to these events.

After hours parties are known for features like fireworks, parades, and character meet and greets — all three of which were suspended last year during Disney World’s closure. So while it’s possible we can see the return of more after hours events and parties in 2021, they may not be what we remember from 2019. It could take at least another year before we see these parties and events more closely resemble what they were prior to the closures.

Could we see a modified version of Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, similar to what we’re seeing with Boo Bash? It’s possible! Like we mentioned above, demand is growing for Disney World vacations, and many guests will be looking for experiences like this as add-ons to their trips to the parks.

Whether we see more parties like this or not, we’ll be sure to let you know about all of the latest news and updates from Disney World!

I am willing to give BOO BASH a Chance. If I get to dress in costume, its a Fun time for me
Anybody willing to place their bets on this costing the exact same thing that a full party costs or more? This is one of those areas where they will see if they can get enough people to pay more for less and then they’ll leave it this way for a while and then start charging more when they bring back certain elements because well…because they can pretty much do anything and people gladly pay for it. It will be interesting to see what they do here. It would be really nice to see them give people a break for once.
Of course they will charge more for less. It’s the Disney Way!
