Guests visiting Disney World are already well-versed in using contactless payment options at the parks, particularly with the use of MagicBands.
But up until recently, Universal Orlando didn’t have a similar option. Although, guests have been able to mobile order and pay for food through the Universal Orlando app with a linked credit or debit card, there’s now a new option for contactless payment!
A new update to the Universal Orlando app called “Universal Pay” allows guests to make contactless purchases in stores at the parks, too. As with mobile order for dining, guests must have a payment method set up in the app’s Wallet.
When checking out, guests can choose “Universal Pay” on their phone, which creates a QR code that Universal team members can scan. Then the amount of the purchase is charged to the payment method linked to the Wallet.
What makes this feature so unique, though, is that guests can also set up a Daily Spending Limit to budget what they spend! Note that this feature only works with Universal-owned stores and not with third-party locations.
