Disney recently announced a two-night Seattle Sailing on the Disney Wonder this summer and many travelers are waiting in anticipation to see when more sailings will be offered. But, there continue to be roadblocks to setting sail, particularly when it comes to international travel.

According to Royal Caribbean Blog, Canada officials have extended their cruise ban through February 28, 2022 due to ongoing health and safety concerns. This announcement comes only a few weeks before the original cruise ban was set to expire on February 28th, 2021.

Under the ban, no cruise ship carrying 100 or more passengers are allowed in Canadian waters. This also applies to cruise ships coming from outside of the country, including the Disney Crusie Line. And, because cruises must stop at a Canadian port on their way to Alaska, cruise lines will not be able to offer trips to Alaska.

The extension of the cruise ban will likely have an impact on the timeline with which sailing can resume. Disney Cruise Line has not yet announced any changes to their 7-Night Alaska sailing departing on June 28th, 2021. We will continue to keep our eye out for more updates in regards to the return of cruising and the Disney Cruise Line.
