Although Buena Vista Street in Disneyland’s California Adventure Park reopened earlier this week as an extension of Downtown Disney, Disneyland continues to remain closed under California’s COVID-19 restrictions.
Today, Governor Newsom announced further restrictions for certain counties in California that have seen significant growth in coronavirus cases, as reported by the Orange County Register.
Residents of certain counties will face a curfew that prohibits non-essential work, movement, and gatherings between 10PM and 5AM. This announcement affects 41 of 58 counties within California that have reached the “purple tier,” meaning that there is a positive test rate of more than 8% and transmission is considered to be widespread.
This curfew goes into effect on Saturday at 10PM. Orange County, which is home to Disneyland, recently returned to the purple tier and will be subject to this curfew.
Next week, Downtown Disney remains open until 9PM on weekdays, and until 10PM on weekends.
It seems that as we get into December and closer to the holidays, Downtown Disney will remain open until 10PM consistently.
We have seen hours change so it’s best to check Disney’s website if planning a visit to Downtown Disney. Currently, it’s unclear if Disney will make any changes in response to this new mandate but we will be sure to update you if they do!
