Here’s How Disney World Honored Veterans Day

Disney World often honors veterans of the U.S. armed forces. There is even a special flag retreat ceremony at Magic Kingdom every day.

Today, on Veterans Day, Disney World held a special ceremony that honored veterans across the country.

The ceremony began at sunrise with a march down Main Street with a fife and drum by members of Disney World’s security team, the Reedy Creek Fire Department, and the Orange County Sheriff’s Department. A special flag-raising ceremony followed.

Last week, the U.S. Thunderbirds flew over Disney World to honor fallen military heroes as part of National Veterans Military Families Month. Disney thanked the Thunderbirds for choosing Disney World for its tribute.

Disney’s history also includes veterans: both Walt and Roy Disney served in the military during World War I. Walt even pitched the idea of The Walt Disney Company while visiting Roy in a veterans’ hospital.

We would like to join Disney World in thanking our veterans for their service.
