Earlier this year, Disney World announced that they would be temporarily closing EPCOT’s Spaceship Earth in May for a “reimagining” of EPCOT’s iconic attraction.
In May, the ride showed up on the official “closed for refurbishment” list on Disney World’s website, indicating that the attraction could be closed when the park reopened. However, a recent update from the leader of Local 362, a union representing many Disney World Cast Members, points to a different path.
Eric Clinton, who leads Local 362, spoke with the Orlando Sentinel about Cast Members beginning to return to work ahead of the parks reopening.
Notably, Clinton said that, “Employees will also need to staff Spaceship Earth, the ride inside Epcot’s iconic globe, since the ride’s rehabilitation is postponed indefinitely and will remain open.”
While Disney has not commented directly, we will continue to bring you updates as we learn more about the potential reopening of Spaceship Earth!

I’m sooooo happy!!!! I hope it’s still open in September when I’m there. I wanted to ride at least one more time before the refurb.😃
So excited to get to ride this again in it’s current state. We love this attraction and cannot wait to smell the fire and listen to the great Dame’s voice.
