We’re live at Universal Orlando for the parks’ Passholder Previews today!
While we’ve already been giving you a sneak peek at the virtual queues, what it’s like to ride attractions with face masks, and the U-Rest locations, now we’re checking out the Mobile Order system!
While we saw the increased usage of Mobile Order at CityWalk, the parks are also utilizing the Mobile Order system in many of its locations today. However, things have gotten pretty crazy since the lines are MEGA long!!
In order to get inside The Three Broomsticks, guests are asked to make a Mobile Order then get in line. However, we realized that the line started to wrap all the way around Hogsmeade when we were visiting.
We also noticed the same for The Leaky Cauldron, as the line went all the way into the dark depths of Knockturn Alley (spooky, right?).
Even when guests place Mobile Orders, it has been taking them 30 minutes (at least) to get inside the restaurant. Regardless of whether you are planning to eat inside or just taking your food to-go, all guests are being placed in the same line.
At the front of the line, team members show guests to available tables and guests are then instructed to select “prepare my order” from the app. Once the food is ready, it is brought to guests on a tray with disposable utensils and guests are asked to leave the tray at the table when they are finished so that team members can clear and sanitize the table.
The Hopping Pot had one of the smallest Mobile Order lines that we could find, where the regular line was placed on the right and the Mobile Order line was on the left.
We also discovered a few glitches within the app when we tried to place a Mobile Order at Thunder Falls near Jurassic Park. The app wouldn’t let us place a Mobile Order because it said that we were not in Islands of Adventure.
When we talked to a team member, they informed us that the app had been having trouble tracking guests all day. However, after trying a few tries, we were able to place our order (victory is ours!).
Since today is a soft-reopening, Mobile Order could look a little different by the time the parks officially reopen on Friday. So we’ll keep you updated on any changes!
