Theme parks, aquariums, and other high traffic areas have been shut down for the last few months in Florida. Many have wondered when they would be re-opening and what kind of procedures will be put in place when they do.

The Florida Aquarium announced that it plans to re-open with certain precautions in place.

On May 15th, the Florida Aquarium in Tampa will start letting in a limited number of guests. The aquarium plans to manage the number of guests by requiring online reservations, which will open up on Thursday May 7th. Members will still have access to free admission, but must make a reservation ahead of time. There will also be a limit of 8 tickets per group and reservations will be in 30 minute intervals.

The aquarium will be limiting hourly capacity to encourage social distancing. Guests are asked to maintain a six foot distance at all times and there will be physical markings on the floor to show the recommended spacing, when necessary.

All employees and volunteers will be required to wear masks and will have their temperature checked every day prior to working. Guests are encouraged to wear face masks while visiting the aquarium.

There will be additional hand sanitizer stations placed at all entrances and exits and the Aquarium will be regularly sanitizing areas that are frequently touched.

Touch experiences, the outdoor play space, and water fountains will not be available, so guests are encouraged to bring their own water. The gift shops and food areas will be available, but with a limited number of guests at a time. You can find out more info on The Florida Aquarium website!

As businesses like restaurants and the Florida Aquarium shift towards re-opening, this means we could be one step closer to larger theme parks like Disney World opening their gates. We will keep you updated with the latest!
