What would Star Wars be without its iconic musical scores? Those scenes of space travel and heroic lightsaber battles would lose some intensity and drama without the epic music behind them. And one man has been responsible for all of those soaring tunes: John Williams.

John Williams’ musical scores in the Star Wars franchise have delighted us for over 40 years, and when Galaxy’s Edge opened in Disneyland and Walt Disney World, Williams composed a new piece of music to immerse intergalactic travelers in the sound of Star Wars.
Yesterday, the land’s adventurous score was nominated for a Grammy for “Best Instrumental Composition.” According to Grammy.com, this marks Williams’ 71st nomination for a Grammy, and out of those, he has won 24. Three of his wins were for music written for the original Star Wars trilogy.

When it was announced that Galaxy’s Edge was going to feature a new John Williams composition, fans were over the moon (that’s… no moon if you’re on Batuu). However, there have been a few complaints that the music isn’t played enough in the Parks. Disney has stated the main reason for this was because you are supposed to feel like you are in Star Wars on the planet Batuu, where they, apparently, don’t blast a planetary soundtrack.

To find out if John Williams wins his 25th Grammy, tune in on Sunday, January 26, 2020, for the 62nd Grammy Awards. Catch John Williams’ next epic score in Star Wars Episode IX: Rise of Skywalker on December 20th.
