Review of 1900 Park Fare Character Dinner

1/21/16 We arrived at opening, was a bit chaotic, if you have a family member who loves Cinderella, this is the buffet for you. Great photo op is the only reason I could think of anyone going here. I had read so many great reviews of the food,I frankly was shocked over how blah, the food was. The typical Disney buffet, blah, not "bad" but not good food. The beef, sliced paper thin was tasteless and the turkey tasted like processed turkey, very heavily salted, not very appetizing. If you are on the fence about this one, choose something else. Desserts were the best thing about the meal. I also think the service here was slow, and it may have been from the "guaranteed tip" due to us being a party of six. We will not be back and again, if you expect more from this than good character interaction and a few ok desserts, you will be disappointed.
Pros:
Great Character interaction! Desserts were okCons:

The food and ambiance here were great. We split a flatbread (one with ham, potatoes and rosemary) for an appetizer, it was good. The bread and olive oil were great. The carbonara and linguine and clams were great. I think I preferred the linguine and clams as I needed to put pepper on the carbonara, but it was still great. The desserts and press pot coffee were excellent! We got the tiramisu, chocolate hazelnut cake and chocolate gelato. Jose was an attentive, fantastic server. We will be back!
Pros:
Food was delicious! Service was great!Cons:

January 2016, Updated villa was fabulous! Loved the flatscreens in the living room and bedroom. Love the laminate floors. Outstanding views. This resort is fabulous, great location, wonderful amenities (might have wished to be closer to the elevator at the end of the long nights). Our new favorite resort!

This was our second time staying at the Caribbean Beach resort and it was better than the first. First the rooms were all recently remodeled and we happened to get a room with the foldout bunk sized murphy bed. This made our two girls very happen, no sharing! The staff did a great job cleaning the rooms, although we are pretty easy and usually only ask for clean towels when we remember to say something. Really happy with the food court as usual, we have a tradition now, the first night we get in, it's a pizza and caesar salad to share. The buses made great time, almost every time it was maybe a 5 minute wait, the longest was maybe 15. Out trip was a full week, and this was the first time we spent the whole day at the parks. Usually we would go back to the room for a break around lunch time, to head back out in the afternoon, but no need. However, with that being said, take the break if you need to. Our kids love all the pools at this resort.
Pros:

The food was better than we had hoped for. The staff was as great as you would expect them to be, and the character rounds were timed so that you did have a chance to eat between. The only downside, and it's the same for many of the table service places, it took forever. This was a dinner visit for us, and it took about two hours. Not the worse, but to much time away from the parks. As a matter of fact, we saw the characters two times! However, it was a great experience to do at least once, and my kids loved it. So putting my OCD of following a schedule aside, they (my kids) loved the interaction with the chipmunks and as long as I think about that, the time wouldn't stop me from doing this again. I would just plan more time, next time.

This place had one of the best steaks I've ever had. My kids were really happy with the kids menu, and the dessert menu was amazing. The only down side was how long it took, although, it's not like we were missing drinks or food, just slow paced. It was ok though, we sat and talked about the fish in the tank (we had a great booth facing the tank). My suggestion would be to plan it for lunch, during the hotter part of the day, so that you can get some time out of the sun, eat lunch and get back out in the park.
Pros:
Love the tank, love the foodCons:

Surprisingly great meal.
My wife and I ate here on Nov. 8, 2015. Our ADR was for 5:20 and we were seated immediately upon arrival. We made these reservations earlier in the day on February 8th and it turned out to be a real surprise – it was one of our better meals at WDW on this trip.
Both of us got the Clam Chowder as an appetizer and it was very, very good. We both enjoyed the soup. For our entrees, my wife got the crab cake meal and I had the Beer-braised Mussels and Clams with Chorizo, Fines Herbs, and Garlic-Herb Butter with Toasted Focaccia. My wife really liked and enjoyed her crab cakes, but my Mussels were stellar!! Usually I don’t care for chorizo flavored dishes, but these mussels were among the best I’ve ever had. My wife also really liked the. We can’t wait to go back and have the mussel again!!! Highly recommend this very under-rated and under-utilized restaurant.

This was our third time eating at Yachtsman, and it was the best of the three experiences! We ate here on November 9, 2015. Our ADR was at 5:20pm and we arrived at 5:15 and were seated almost immediately. Our table was in the section with vaulted ceilings and surround windows. We were seated next to a window with great views of the water (lake – not the pool). Our server was Susan who was excellent throughout our meal.
We got the Porterhouse for two with Trio of Steakhouse Sides. My only small complaint is that the steak came out already cut from the bone and cut up into slices. I would have preferred cutting it up myself, but it was cooked perfectly. Both of us thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The steak and the sides were excellent and very tasty. Next time we go, we’ve agreed to get this cut again, but tell them not to cut it up for us. We would also sit in Susan’s section again. The meal was one of the best I’ve ever had!

We weren't expecting Mickey Mouse to be plastered everywhere. Honestly, we weren't. The Dolphin is not a Disney hotel. However, we were expecting it to be CLEAN. Especially for the the price. Our first exposure to how things seem to be done at the Dolphin was in the parking lot. Garbage. A big ol' bag of garbage was sitting in the spot next to ours. Once we got our key cards, we headed up to the room. What did we find in the elevator? Giant, dirty handprints on the inside of the door. PS, the #5 elevator button doesn't work. Luckily, we're on 10. As we walk down the hall toward our room, we see lots of dishes and half-eaten food outside guests' doors. Most of those dishes sat there for DAYS. Ah, finally to our room. Hey look, the number plate on the room across the hall is on the floor. And we all have a big laugh. That number plate stayed on the floor the entire length of our stay.
On the afternoon of December 24, 2015, we put the key card in the door of room #10172. The door opens…smells weird. Not bad, just weird. Okay, sometimes that happens. As we check out the room, we notice the following "luxurious" things: the room is WORN. Like, 1990-called-and-they-want-their-room-back worn, the hair dryer is sticky and dusty and hairy, the bathroom is DIM, I can't barely see in there, the toilet whistles loudly when flushed, the shower drained slowly, the floor and some drawer handles were sticky, two lights in the room didn't even work, random hairs, LOTS of dust on EVERYTHING…oh, did I mention the splintered wood on the drawer handles? Um, I'm paying how much to stay in this place dirtier than my own house?
On the night before check-out, I called Guest Services to make sure we could get out of the parking lot the next morning. I was assured TWICE all I needed was my room key to exit the parking lot. At around 3:30am on December 28, our room key failed to allow us to exit the parking lot. We spent more than 20 minutes calling around trying to find SOMEONE to help us. There was no security in the parking lot. We were on hold multiple times with multiple people. The "help" button didn't seem to work properly, either. We were stuck. WE COULD NOT LEAVE THE PARKING LOT FOR 20 MINUTES. I could never advise anyone to stay here.

We went there without kids so that was our first mistake. The characters weren't important to us and they all got sad faces when we said we really didn't need our pictures with them. The food was okay. I had scallops for an appetizer and it came with one not very big scallop. I had steak and shrimp for the entree and ended up with about 5 spoonfuls of mashed potatoes, a piece of steak that I could have hidden in the palm of my hand along with 2 average shrimps. The cheesecake and strawberry desert consisted of cheesecake and half of a strawberry.
