Review of Tusker House Lunch and Dinner Buffet

I thought I would try this restaurant after reading reviews on this site so I knew about the photo purchase and everything beforehand.

When it was our turn to have our picture with Donald we told them we where not buying the photo and asked them to please just use our camera which they did happily with no problem so if you are watching your pennies just ask. We still got a great photo for free. 🙂

The staff here are great! we missed Goofy when we were at the buffet and they made sure he came around to us before we left.

We really did not enjoy the food here that much, there is better food at other buffets. The buffet was small and the selections are not that varied. I actually left here hungry. 🙁 If I had paid for this I would not be happy but since we used the dining plan I just grabbed a snack and continued on our way.

We have been to Disney many times so it is always nice to try something different and realize that they can not always be winners. What works for some does not work for others. Just because it did not work for us don't let that stop you for having fun trying it.

Pros:

charactors

Cons:

limited buffet

If you qualify to stay here, it is the best value on the property. The rooms are huge, clean and the hotel is located so close to the MK. We are not fond of the bus service, so walk to the Polynesian and use the monorail system to get to MK and EPCOT. They have a beautiful new pool and are in the process of updating the other pool. I also like that it is out of the hustle and bustle of the rest of Disney. We have stayed here many times and will continue to for future visits.

Pros:

Huge rooms, Good value, Location

Cons:

Restaurants, bus system

Review of Cape May Cafe - Character Breakfast

We have been to most of the Character Breakfasts on property and I would rate this among the best, but it is pricey. The food was excellent, but there wasn't the selection of Tusker House in AK. We did enjoy ourselves, left full and took the boat to EPCOT.

Pros:

Food, atmosphere, characters

This restaurant is absolutely beautiful and we were so thrilled to get a dinner reservation during our recent visit. Our server was excellent and very attentive. I hope that they come up with a better menu. The food was good, but not excellent, especially for the prices.

Pros:

Beautiful atmosphere.

The Brown Derby and the Cobb Salad is the only reason I go to MGM Studios. The ambiance in the restaurant is great and so is the service. No complaints, though there is a limited selection of food choices for children.

Pros:

Cobb Salad!

This restaurant is nice, but I doubt I would return. I enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere and the different types of food choices, but it was a difficult selection for the kids. We had a good server and the service was quick.

Pros:

Ambiance of restaurant. Change of pace.

Cons:

Food selections.

We ate at SRT the second night it was open. We ate inside next to a window. The view was excellent. Our waiter was very attentive. We had the Tingis Sampler which consists of a Lamb Slider, Harissa Chicken Roll and Merguez Sausage. The Lamb Slider and Harissa Chicken Roll weren't bad. The Meruez Sausage was way too spicy for me and I didn't care for the taste. Also we had the Salted Cod Croquettes. The Salted Cod Croquettes were, indeed, very salty. The sundried tomato aioli and the black olive tapenade to dip them in was very good. For dessert, we had the Chocolate Pyramid with Almond ice cream and the Saffron Lemon Custard. Both desserts were excellent. I think for the money spent, there are many other restaurants I would prefer to eat at at EPCOT.

Pros:

Very good theming and good location to watch Illuminations

Cons:

Pricey

We have made CG a must do for over 30 years and it is always a wonderful experience - not on this past trip of January 10th! We invited 3 couples to join us that had never been to CG before but have listened to us boast on how wonderful it is. What a nightmare from start to finish! Seated 35min past reservation time - waiter was most likely busboy who was pulled to help wait tables - very unprofessional in every way. We asked to try both a white and red wine - bottles were brought to our table 1/2 empty, when we asked for unopened bottles to be brought and opened in front of us we were told - No try first, if you like it then I'll bring new bottles! Only 1 wine glass for table of 8 which our waiter poured and left us to go around to empty tables and get glasses for ourselves! 2 of our guests never received their appetizers. Entree's were wonderful that is the only positive. We had 1 guest with a gluten allergy - when she asked the waiter to speak with the Chef she was told - Order the steak - her response I don't eat steak waiters response - I'll have the Chef steam some veggies for you! Very disappointed with the entire evening and our guests will never venture back again - such a nightmare! We asked to speak with the manager - no luck, in fact we complained to the concierge at our hotel and he also tried reaching a manager at CG - no luck! We will not be back which is sad as we have always made this a special dinner spot when in Disney. Artist Point from now on - fantastic dinner/staff there!

Pros:

Food

Cons:

Service -
