We visited Flame Tree BBQ on 1/9 and loved it!
This was our first experience with Flame Tree BBQ and we were very impressed. We love trying new quick service options and getting the most out of our quick service credit.
I first got the idea to visit Flame Tree BBQ from an excellent article on Allears.net. I loved how Jack went into all the details on how the imaginers made sure all of the seating had a strong attention to detail and had a theme.
We went as a party of 7 and used a total of 6 Quick Service credits (We had one couple share their meal). We all ordered the Ribs & Chicken combo that came with coleslaw and baked beans. It was EXCELLENT! The portions were a great size. Each plate had 3-4 ribs and 1-2 pieces of chicken. Both meat options were cooked to perfection. The sides of beans and coleslaw are smaller (about 4 bites) but we were all very full. They were both excellent as well. It was great to get some smoked ribs/chicken that as perfectly done.
Dessert was great as well with the options of Chocolate mousse or Key Lime mousse. We had a mixture of each between the 6 meals.
Here are some tips I learned:
- You can substitute the baked beans for grapes OR carrot sticks
- You can upgrade your drink to a large covered under the quick service plan
- There is plenty of covered seating but there is some great views on the un-covered section as well.
- Each of the covered sections has utensils, napkins and of course extra BBQ sauce
- The Ribs/Chicken combo is shareable and plenty if you want to share. We had two adults who were still full of sharing the plate.
Entrée (Ribs/Chicken) was $15.99
Desserts were $3.99
Drinks were $3.19
I just wanted to share my quick thoughts. The meal was excellent and we can't wait to visit again!

We had park hopping tickets. We had to choose fastpass in one park in the afternoon. In the morning, we went to another park waiting in regular lines. We were there Jan 7and 8, went all 4 parks in 2days. There were not much lines at all. If you missed a passfast time, you are able to reschedule it on your phone or kiosk.

Convenient to enter the parks, room, pay for food and merchindice. Can't choose FastPass+ in multiple parks each day. We had park hopping tickets. Could only book fastpass online for one park.

Stayed there Jan 7-10, 2014. I took my 9 year old son on DW winter special. The room is clean, perfect for 2 of us. Could be too small for 4. We arrived at 5.00 am, took the DW express to the hotel, and the room was ready to move in. Maid service is prompt. Front desk is very nice. Bus is frequent. We never waited more than 5 minutes. We had room service one night with bread sticks and chicken wings. It was very good. We had a quiet room in the 70th facing the lake. The only con. is there is no sound proof between rooms. I could hear next door going to the bathroom. Fortunately, no one snored:)

I was part of a family group of 10, and we spend HOURS of park time both at our resort and at Epcot trying to link up our bands (to be fair, each cast member who tried to help us gave us extra fast passes, and one gave us a $50 Epcot merchandise certificate because we had so many issues) to each other and to the memory maker. We and the cast members were never able to link my mother's band to the rest of ours. Several of our group had problems at the park entrance when the bands did not work. If we wanted to park hop, we could not split our fast pass selections between the parks (you can only select one park for the three fast passes each day). We did not have a problem with the meal plan or charging things back to the rooms. We were all upset that there were so many kinks with the band, all the expense of our time and aggrevation.
Pros:
No need to fumble for a park ticket/room keyCons:

This is my favorite moderate resort. It is fairly centrally located, and it has a small cozy feel to it. My group of 10 had 6 rooms (they were able to put us all in the same building next to each other) which were at the furtherest from the mail building, but the walk to the main building is very quick and easy. We all love the boat access to Downtown Disney. The cast members in the gift shop. food court, and front desk are very personable and friendly.

Took the Chaccoben tour... Bus ride was about 45 minutes, comfortable. My wife is in a wheelchair, and getting to the bus was not too bad using city streets. Hosts were very accommodating.
We actually took her in the wheelchair on the guided tour, and did pretty well. the packed dirt was fine, and she only had to walk about 10% of the tour.
Kids were a little bored, but really enjoyed climbing on the ruins. When the guides whipped out the Sprite for the post-tour refreshment, all was forgiven.
Great photo ops at the ruins. Informative guide who assisted with the WC several times. There was a small shop with items for sale, sellers were pleasant and not pushy. Doubt anything was actually made there.
No time to shop in Costa Maya before or after the tour... Bought four T shirts in about 3 minutes with my broken spanish. Shopkeeper was appreciative, seems like they knew they wouldn't get much business.
I think they are dropping CM from the itenerary; sad because the Tulum ruins (although bigger) are a long way from Cozumel. Really glad we went, I now have my ruins fix and can do other stuff at Cozumel.

Took the Xcaret excursion, it was lots of fun. Cross between Animal Kingdom and a zoo with a mexican flair. Boat ride to the mainland, then a 45 minute bus ride to the park. Lunch credit was included, but we ended up eating at the restaurant looking out over the ocean... good food, fair service. Authentic mexican. We did do the underground river float, take a wetsuit or extra layers of clothes... the water is COLD!!!!!! The river was a blast.
Just walking around was fun, but the time was short due to the travel time. We walked thru the plaza at Playa del Carmen, but could not stop due to time constraints. As it was, we got back to the ship only a few minutes late.... there were still several hundred people along with us in line to board, so don't worry too much. As long as you're on a DCL excursion, they won't leave you. Would enjoy going back, but really need the whole day to enjoy it.
My wife is wheelchair bound, and it was a challenge to get her WC around the park. A scooter might work better.

Did the two tank dive thru Disney's contractor (red Sail, i think). Wonderful trip, did 2 tanks 1 at a great reef and 1 at a wreck. Marine life abounds. Meet once offboard was a bit chaotic, but after a while of sorting things out, we walked about 1/2 mi to a small beach where the pontoon boat waited for us. 45 min ride to the first dive site. on board water and fruit. Second dive was 10 min ride. Had a blast! relaxing trip back to Fantasy gave opportunity for several glamour shots.

My husband and I shared the Spicy Cashew Chicken. It was good. Always fun to grab a bite to eat here and then go on Soarin'.
