Review of Port Orleans French Quarter (Moderate Resort)

After 20+ trips to Disney, it has become official. FQ is the best. We have stayed at all the value resorts, all the moderate resorts and two of the deluxe resorts and keep coming back to FQ. The rooms have queen beds, which is a plus for families. There is only one bus stop location, so there is little transportation confusion. While the bus sometimes shares with Riverside, this does not bother us. The boat ride to DTD is charming and efficient and we used it more than once. This resort is small compared to other Disney locations and this a a huge plus when traveling with older grandparents. Our room was ready early and featured some towel art, which pleased the kiddos. The pool is fun and had free life jackets for little ones or non-swimmers. The slide is just fast enough to keep older kids happy. We liked pin trading in the gift shop where the CM are always friendly. The food court is not large, and can be crowded in the morning. A quick fix is picking up fruit and yogurt and goodies the night before and using the in room fridge rather than facing the early crowd. This is our Disney home!

Pros:

smaller resort

Cons:

busy food court

This was our third stay at the Grand Floridian so we have always been very happy staying there but this time was exceptional. The rooms have been renovated and are done very well. All the staff members we encountered seemed to be at their best, from the front desk to house keeping! Love the turn down service and on our last day my daughter received a rose on her bed, a very nice touch that we never experienced before. I would highly recommend staying here, both of my children love staying here as well.

EVERYTHING !!!

This is very hard to write since California Grill is one of my all time favorite restaurants. At first we were seated in front of the new kitchen which is extremely loud could not hear our own conversation, after requesting another table we were moved to an excellent location, waitress was nice. Food was not prepared correctly after pointing this out service and food quality went horribly wrong. After almost 2 hours of a very bad experience my party of three finally got out without desert or viewing fireworks. When concerns were brought to management they were basically ignored.

Pros:

Cons:

Food and service

Our reservation was for 6:30. We arrived about 6:15, checked in, and ended up being seated before our actually reservation. We were seated on the patio which was nice.

My DS 7 ordered mac and cheese which he ate almost every bite (an accomplishment for him so it must have been good). My DH and DS 13 decided that they would each order a different Monte Cristo and then split them. So one had the regular and the other had the cheese one. When they were brought out, they did have to ask for more of the berry sauce because they were only brought enough for one sandwich but our waiter fixed this immediately. I sampled each sandwich and they were delicious. I ordered Seafood Herb Crepes and I was pleasantly surprised at the taste. They were delicious. I did not like the slaw or whatever it was that they served with it but it was probably just me. We were all stuffed from our meal here. The service was excellent. We will definitely eat here again when we return.

Pros:

Food, Food, Food

My family ate here on June 7, 2014. After a long morning, lunch was our first order of busy once we got in the park. My husband ordered the Blue Cheese and Bacon Burger with fries, my DS 13 had a Classic Cheeseburger with fries, my DS 7 had a kids chicken nuggets with apple slices, and I had the grilled chicken sandwich with fries. None of us were disappointed with our food. The biggest problem we had was finding a seat either inside or out. Even though we got through the line really quickly, it was hard to find seats that you could get too. The open tables were almost impossible to squeeze into because of other diners sitting down.

Pros:

Food, Service

Its hot dogs and sausages. Both my husband and DS 13 had the Hot Dog combo and liked it. Although they both were a little hungry after eating it so it was enough food for them. I had the Sicilian Sausage which I really liked. I didn't eat the bun since I don't really like a lot of bread but it did taste good the few bites I took. My DS 7 had a kids hot dog which he ate all up. Overall it was good but we would probably eat somewhere else next time.

Pros:

Price, Decent Hot Dogs

We stayed here June 7-11, 2014. Everything about our stay worked out perfectly. Our room was not a theme park view but we could see the pool if we looked down from our window. The room had 2 beds and a day bed which was great for us because our children (13 and 7) do not like sharing a bed. However if you have 2 larger children the daybed may not be very comfortable for them. Housekeeping was great at making sure our room was well stocked and clean. We didn't eat at our hotel so we can not comment on that. All the staff that we encountered throughout our stay was very helpful and friendly. We hope to make a trip back here again soon.

Location, Rooms

Just returned from my 13th visit to the WDW resort! I have stayed at other moderates and value resorts before, but this was by far the best on property experience I have had! I love POFQ and I have stayed here 5 times before and this is why I keep coming back: 1. Size. At the end of the long day touring the parks, the last thing you want is a long hike back to your room. This time we were in building 4 (right next to the bus stop as requested!), the perfect location! 2. Service. The cast members here were so friendly and helpful. My sister kept having issues with her magic band because it would not open the door to her room... No worries (her husband's band would still open the door) because they couldn't get her band to open the room, they gave us ALL 3 extra fast passes to anything at any time (THAT was like GOLD!) Talk about awesome! 3. Cleanliness. Everything was manicured to perfection and maid service this time was great! 4. Busses. Never had to wait more than 15 minutes for a bus to anything and they were always quiet...even when the bus was full at the end of the day (standing room only) it was still quiet. I have stayed at the value resorts before and believe me THOSE busses are full of student groups and are VERY LOUD and ANNOYING! (not what you want at the end of a long and exhausting day).
LOVE for POFQ!

Pros:

EVERYTHING!

Cons:

NONE this time!

Review of Be Our Guest Dinner

We lucked up, on our last night, at the Magic Kingdom and was able to grab a 5:45 cancelled dinner reservation at Be Our Guest. We were not disappointed. Between the four of us, we had the pork chop, chicken and pot roast entrees. I had the salad and enjoyed getting to sample everything others had ordered. My husband loved the beer offerings and, of course, we all had the grey stuff. It was delicious! Can't wait to go back!

Pros:

Great food and relaxing atmosphere

We had the Fantasmic package which included an individual appetizer, entree, and shared dessert plus reserved seating for the first Fantasmic show. We all really liked our meals and the dessert was very good. I would say the quality is better than Olive Garden and a good choice for Hollywood Studios. The reserved seating was directly in the front and I think the package is worth the price if you order carefully. The service was very good.

Pros:

fantasmic package, decent italian food

Cons:
