Review of Caribbean Beach Resort (Moderate Resort)

They have ruined this resort with the rehab. The food at the food court is served cold, and is very uninspired. Seating area in food court is much smaller than it was and way more crowded. I loved the feel of the old Olde Port Royale. It was homey and comfortable. Now it is stiff and trying to imitate a much higher scale facility. There was a lovely view out the back of OPR to the waterfront. Now you get the back of the bistro. And the theme and visual of escaping to a Caribbean hideaway is gone with that monstrosity that is the Riviera resort. Stayed there for 13 years in a row up until the construction in 2017. Went back in 2018. Never again. 🙁

Pros:

Banana Cabana upgrade is nice. I suppose access to Skyliner.

Cons:

Anything associated with the 2017 rehab.

Review of T-Rex

We tried T-Rex during Thanksgiving week. It was very crowded -- I assume this is always true. There was a 15 min. line to stand in just to tell the hostess we were there. Then we were told to stand in another line. Eventually, they called our name. We had arrived 15 min. early & were seated about 15 min. after our reservation time. The meal was good, nothing to write home about. Our server was very friendly, but the service was slow. After waiting 30 min. w/reservation to be seated, I was not thrilled that it took another 90 min. for the meal. Not worth 2 hours of our Disney day. Overall: Service in slow, food is OK, atmosphere is over the top & kind of fun, expensive, probably not going back... until our grandson is old enough to beg to eat in the dinosaur restaurant:) I recommend this restaurant if you have small children who love dinos. Otherwise, there are much better options in DS.

Pros:

Fun atmosphere, friendly wait staff

Cons:

Time consuming, expensive, food just OK

Review of 'Ohana Best Friends Character Breakfast

We LOVE O'Hana. We had previously enjoyed dinner there, so we tried the breakfast on our recent Thanksgiving trip. It was just awesome! The food was delicious & plentiful. We like that it's served family style - no getting up & down to visit a buffet. The characters visited our table multiple times and there was even a character photo op in the lobby while we waited to be seated for our reservation. The service was extremely attentive. The entire experience was just satisfying and fun! I don't say this often about Disney dining, but O'Hana is worth the price. We'll definitely be back!

Pros:

Characters, Fun, Food

Review of Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party (Magic Kingdom)

I was worried about negative reviews, but bought the tickets anyway & my young adult children LOVED IT! They ran around enjoying the rides, food, special fireworks, character meet & greets like they were 10 yrs. old again. It was truly magical! I'm thinking that the after hours events are fantastic for teens/young adults. They have enough energy to keep going until midnight. Their middle aged parents headed back to the resort w/our sleeping grandson by 10 p.m:) Yes, it's crowded - but we didn't find it quite as busy as in the day time, especially as the evening wore on. Yes, it's festive! It was SNOWING on Main St.! And No - the snack vendors did not run out of treats. There were more treat offerings than we could possibly consume. Next to the Star Wars attraction, this was our family's favorite experience of the trip! We would love to do it again!

Pros:

Very festive atmosphere! Fun, fun, fun!

Cons:

Long day for some

Review of Be Our Guest Dinner

We ate dinner here Thanksgiving week. It was our 2nd visit. I have to say the 1st visit, 5 yrs. ago, was incredible. The decor blew us away. The food was fantastic. We couldn't believe the Beast walked through the restaurant! But this time, the magic just wasn't there. Maybe because we knew what to expect. Maybe because the food just wasn't as good. I should have done my research because the pre-fix menu was a surprise to us. $62 per person plus 18% gratuity for an appetizer, main dish, & a dessert plate. I had the French Onion soup - delicious, petit fillet w/green beans & mashed potatoes - just OK. The dessert sampler was a small macron, a small sample of the grey stuff, and 1 fabulous chocolate truffle. The presentation is absolutely beautiful. Honestly, if I could have ordered the soup & dessert it would have been enough food. I was having a little trouble choking down dinner because of the cost. No one in our party was able to clean their plates -- too full of goodies from our park day! If we ever go back, I would definitely use the dining plan for this one. I would like to try the CS lunch (it was booked). I don't think we'll return until we have a granddaughter whose favorite movie is Beauty & the Beast:)

Pros:

Atmosphere & decor

Cons:

Not worth the $

Review of Old Key West Resort (Disney Vacation Club)

My husband & I traveled Thanksgiving week with our 3 young adult children, a family friend, and a 10 month old infant. We booked a 2 bedroom villa @ OKW - our 1st stay in a villa. It was beautiful, clean, spacious and perfect for our group. We really enjoyed the boat transportation to Disney Springs. The bus service to the parks was wonderful - we never waited more than 15-20 minutes & there was always room on the bus for us. There were drawbacks to this resort, though. OKW is very close to the highway & we could both see & hear traffic from our balcony. Not a tragedy, but we didn't feel immersed in magic. We were in the Turtle Pond area at the back. I'm a walker, but would not have attempted to drag luggage all the way to the hospitality house. Bell services did a great job - it was just an extra layer to call & then wait for this service, and to stand in line to retrieve bags again @ the bell services station. There was a quiet pool & snack/refill station next to our villa, though the refill station was never open when we were at the resort. We had requested Magical Express w/our booking. The ride to Disney from the airport was great, but somehow OKW seemed to have no idea we were returning. When we left there was no room on a bus and they called an ordinary cab (& paid for it, though we tipped). This was only a minor disappointment, but we would have preferred ending our trip on a Magical note. The service @ OKW was always friendly, however, & we understand that it was a very busy week. BTW, I noticed a WDW room discount offer several weeks after we had booked. I called & asked if they would honor it & they did! Overall our stay was a mixed bag - we like the Port Orleans resort area better, but really enjoyed the spacious villa @ OKW.

Pros:

Spacious villas, boat to Disney Springs

Cons:

Huge resort

Disney gutted yet another menu and turned what was an ethnic (although familiar) menu into yet another boring theme park menu. They even dumped colcannon. They also dumped my reason for going to the restaurant - It\\'s Not Bleedin\\' Chowder. I won\\'t be back.

Pros:

Good entertainment

Cons:

Boring menu

We tried Whispering Canyon for the 1st time last week, and I will not be going back. We were a party of 9 and none of us enjoyed our meal.

Pros:

Milkshakes. The milkshakes were the only thing good about the dinner.

Cons:

The food. I ordered steak and it was very rubbery and tough to eat. Others in my party ordered the skillets and they did not like them at all.

Much busier than daytime. Lines the same wait as day. People climbing over you to see parade and shows, so even if you wait to get a spot people will fight you for it. Felt unsafe. So much rain shows didn’t happen or where stopped. Extremely disappointed.

Pros:

Christmas lights.

Cons:

Too many people.
