It's Official: Disney's Art of Animation Resort Is Getting NEW Rooms!

Since opening in 2012, Disney’s Art of Animation Resort has been a favorite value resort among visitors!

It’s known for its heavily themed hotel rooms and family suites themed to The Lion King, Cars, Finding Nemo, and The Little Mermaid. Now, it has been revealed that these rooms are getting a major refresh!

A Disney spokesperson revealed that refurbished rooms are coming to Art of Animation in summer 2027! This applies to both regular guest rooms AND the family suites.

Hoping to stay here during construction? No worries. The resort is staying open and working in phases with room refurbishments — similar to what we’ve seen with other recent hotel room projects.

Imagineering is working on this project as well to maintain that feel of stepping into the movies that Art of Animation does so well.

We also got a sneak peek at concept art for one of the new The Little Mermaid rooms! We were unable to photograph it, but hope to share it with you soon. In the meantime, we can confirm it will still be heavily themed, with a seashell bed and chairs. We also spotted huge Ariel and “Under the Sea” prints on the walls and Murphy bed. Oh, and there were bubble lamps on the nightstands! We can’t wait to see these rooms come to life.

Several Disney World resorts have been going through some pretty significant updates. Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort got a new lobby, a new lobby bar, the return of the iconic tea service, and work is STILL happening around the resort.

The BoardWalk is also full of opportunity with the closure of Big River Grille, Promenade Fine Art Gallery, and Jellyrolls. While there are no updates from Disney at this time, the spokesperson hinted that more information about the resort is coming soon.
