REVIEW: This Is The Best $8.50 You Can Spend at Universal Orlando Right Now

For decades, Disney was the main name people thought of when talking about theme park food beyond basic fare like hot dogs, etc. However, in recent years, Universal has made significant inroads in the space with specialty food and drink, including Butterbeer.

First introduced in 2010 when the initial Wizarding World of Harry Potter opened, the drink — based on the item of the same name from the Potter book series — became a massive success. Over the years, there have been multiple variants, including hot Butterbeer, frozen Butterbeer, Butterbeer ice cream, crepes, and our focus today: A Butterbeer Shortbread Bar.

The treat can be found at Sugarplum’s Sweet Shop in Diagon Alley at Universal Studios Florida.

Amongst the Bertie Bott’s Every-Flavour Beans, Acid Pops, and Exploding Bonbons that fill the shop, the Butterbeer Shortbread Bar can be found for $8.52.

The bar features a Butterbeer logo made of fondant, as well as a chocolate drizzle over the salted caramel bar.

The bar had a flavor balance of salted caramel and the traditional butterscotch flavor associated with Butterbeer, which gives it an overall flavor profile that’s sweet while at the same time not feeling like a sugar overload.

Texture-wise, the bar was soft to bite into and slightly flaky without falling apart, which makes it a conveniently portable snack for traversing the Wizarding World’s shops. However, we should note that the bar was a bit buttery and greasy, so definitely plan to wash your hands ASAP once you’re finished.

Universal has added a new shortbread bar to its catalogue of Butterbeer offerings, and it’s one of the best portable snack options in the Wizarding World. Stay tuned to AllEars for more on Universal’s snack offerings.
